SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Reece Leek scored twice as Coleshill Town beat Rocester 4-1.

Coleshill continue to enjoy playing at home, five games - five wins, since the laying of the 3G pitch and the surface certainly encourages fast flowing, entertaining football! The visitors played their part in an end to end game and maybe the scoreline flattered the home side but many more chances came and went, so there could have been more goals than just the five!

The Romans already had two efforts saved by Paul Hathaway before Town took the lead with just five minutes on the clock. Mykel Beckley sent Dean Rathbone free in the box and his cross was flicked on by Luke Barlone to Reece Leek. Leek's first effort was blocked but the ball fell kindly and he was able to find the net at the second attempt. Hathaway pushed away a free kick, Barlone hit the bar, Hathaway saved from Brown, Brown shot wide and Rathbone shot straight at Froggatt as the action continued at a frantic pace. Coleshill doubled the lead on 36 minutes when Rathbone casually lifted the ball over the Rocester defence, Leek chested the ball down and powerfully shot home. It was 3-0 on 42 minutes when Rathbone sent Barlone clear in the box and he slipped the ball under the advancing keeper and into the net. Leek nearly completed his first half hat-trick but Froggatt saved with his feet but Town did make it four in time added on when Craig Milligan played a great through ball to Mykel Beckley who finished in style!

4-0, job done but still the football flowed! Coleshill did just enough and could have scored again through Leek, Sam Adkins, Rathbone, Weale, Evans and Cobourne but the only goal of the half was scored by Dan Brown who deserved his goal when he converted from a Smith cross!

A trip to Highgate mid-week is followed by a Vase game at home on Saturday against Quorn!
