The thing is about the new 3G pitch is that you know the game will always be on and you can play good football on it as the bounce is always consistent! Coleshill like to play on it! The problem is, visiting teams like to play on it as well! Brocton, in 17th place and with just four wins all season, liked the pitch! They played some very impressive football and took their chances when they came. Coleshill had the majority of chances but came up against a goalkeeper that must have woke up this morning and decided that he would not be beaten! Goals were always going to be at a premium for Town as they lost their two leading scorers! Luke Barlone has moved on to Barwell, good luck Luke, and Dean Rathbone had to leave the pitch early on after a horrendous challenge by Lomas, which went unpunished!

Coleshill started really well! Man Of The Match, Brocton keeper Callum Barrett, saved from Dean Rathbone in the first couple of minutes and then did even better when he saved from Sam Adkins and was up quickly with a better save to deny Rob Evans's follow-up effort. Rathbone then had to leave the pitch to be replaced by Mykel Beckley and Coleshill lost their cutting edge. Brocton should have taken the lead but Kinsella's shot came back off the post with Town guardian Paul Hathaway left stranded. Barrett saved from Reece Leek and then a swift break from Town's own corner flag saw the ball moved from Mykel Beckley to Tom Weale and back again with Beckley's bending shot missing the far post by inches. Fife shot wide then straight at Hathaway, then Lomas showed quick feet to make room for a shot that just went wide of the post in an end to end, very entertaining game!

Barrett continued his inspired performance in the second half as he saved from Ricardo Reid, Ablewhite shot over the Coleshill bar from a great position before Reid set up Weale in front of goal but his powerful shot still couldn't beat Barrett. Berks somehow put Booth's fine cross over the bar from a great position and then Hathaway had to make a rare save from a deflected shot from Kinsella. With all these chances going begging, a 0-0 draw looked the likely outcome for this game but Brocton took the lead on 70 minutes. The danger looked to have been cleared but the ball fell to Hardiman almost 30 yards from goal and his swerving, wind assisted shot arrowed into the top corner of the net. Giovanni Dainty, Sam Adkins and Demerius Smikle all had shots blocked by a determined Brocton defence that now had something to defend and when Adkins's cracking shot got past the defence Barrett was there again with another amazing save. Barrett then set up McMahon with a punt up field but his volley was well saved by Hathaway. On 77 minutes Hathaway and Kiembi both went up for a cross! Normally any challenge on the keeper when he is off the ground ends up with a free kick but not on this occasion as McMahon was left with a tap in for 2-0 to the visitors. Adkins had another goalbound shot blocked this time by Booth who had turned his back and knew nothing about it, then Smikle's effort was saved by Barrett at the foot of the post, and then Barrett saved at the feet of Beckley. Beckley was back again and his bending shot was going in but Barrett got the finest of touches to deflect the effort for a corner. McMahon had a chance to kill the game off but sliced wide from a great position and then in the dying seconds Barrett made a double save from Ryan Nash then Reece Leek's follow-up!

Not Coleshill's day but the games come thick and fast with a MFA League cup game against Quorn coming up on Tuesday!
