Coleshill exited their second Cup competition in four days when they were beaten in the Quarter Finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup by a very impressive Wolverhampton Wanderers. The young, pacy, and talented Under 21's were worthy winners and it would be interesting to see how many progress into senior, professional football.
Coleshill weren't at full strength after thier gruelling, extra time, encounter with Dunston in the FA Vase but still worked extremely hard to prevent the Wolves from dominating possession as they obviously enjoyed the excellent 3G surface. That hard work took its toll and the visitors extra ability told as time went on. Ryan Rainey was on the end of a sweet cross to give Wanderers the lead after 20 minutes and Rainey scored his and Wolverhampton's second just before the break as he danced through the Coleshill defence and slid the ball under Town keeper Paul Hathaway for a fine solo goal.

Rainey was involved in the visitors third goal early in the second half as his cross was swept home by Connor Hunte. Declan Weeks made it four with a curling shot into the corner of the net after another fine move. Rob Evans hit the bar from a free kick before Coleshill finally got on the score sheet. Coleshill had a sustained attack and the ball came out to Dean Rathbone on the far edge of the six yard box. Rathbone dincked the ball back into the danger area where Ricardo Reid was waiting to head the ball home. This goal put Reid into Coleshill Town's History Books as he joined a very small list of players who have scored against a professional club.

The list of Coleshill Town players who have scored against professional clubs is:
John Taylor against Birmingham City - 1988
Matty Robinson against Burton Albion - 2009
Danny Carter against Birmingham City - 2010
Danny Carter against Burton Albion - 2012
James Travis against Burton Albion - 2012
And now!
Ricardo Reid against Wolverhampton Wanderers - 2016

Under 21s through to last eight of BSC
Coleshill Town 1 (Reece 86)
Wolves 4 (Rainey 21, 42, Hunte 51, Weeks 73)

The Wolves Under 21s progressed to the quarter-finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup after a comfortable 4-1 victory over Coleshill Town at the Pack Meadow on Tuesday evening.
Despite the freezing conditions the game was never in doubt as Coleshill play on a 3g playing surface.
The first threat came from Wolves with Callum Harris’s drive bouncing off home keeper Paul Hathaway before being cleared for a corner.
Hathaway then made a smart save to push away a free-kick that Harris bent around the wall before Anthony Breslin fired in a low cross that was half cleared to Ryan Rainey (pictured) who was narrowly wide from the edge of the box.
Wolves moved into the lead in the 21st minute after Donovan Wilson beat the offside trap and squared the ball to Rainey who made no mistake.
Hathaway was called into action again to parry a low shot from Will Randall who was making his debut in the club’s colours. The keeper then
blocked twice from Harris as Wanderers continued to hold the upper hand.
Josh Quaynor went close for Coleshill with a 20-yard free-kick that was a matter of inches wide before Rainey got his and his side’s second three minutes before the break with a fine individual effort that saw him skip past three challenges before converting.
Six minutes into the second-half Connor Hunte made it three. Randall’s speed took him clear on the left and when his low cross fell to Rainey on the far side of the area, his cross-shot was tucked away by Hunte.
Declan Weeks’s hard work paid dividends when he made it four in the 73rd minute. The midfielder found the corner of the net from 20-yards out after a good build up from the visitors.
Four minutes from time Ricardo Reece headed a consolation for Coleshill following a cross from Dean Rathbone.

Under 21s coach Scott Sellars said, after the final whistle: “I think the surface suited our players. They had trained on the 3g surface at Compton Park because of the recent conditions, so they were quite used to it.
“It’s been four weeks since we last played and I felt the performance was really good tonight. The players have been training really well and that showed in the way they played.
“Game’s like this one, against non-League opposition, are always a real challenge when they are the underdogs and we are expected to win. It means there is a lot of pressure on our players but they dealt with it really well tonight and played some good football.
“We dominated the attacking play and all of the goals were of good quality. The midfield were in control and, when they were needed, the back four did everything that was asked of them.
“Getting through to the last eight gives us another game and we are looking forward to it as it provides a different kind of challenge.”
Of new signing Randall, Scott added: “He looks a good footballer. He runs well with the ball and looks composed with it – I thought it was a pleasing first start for him.”
