REPORT
Coleshill moved into the top ten (8th) with this comfortable win over Loughborough University. The game was over as a contest in less than 15 minutes with Town taking a 3-0 lead.
Coleshill welcomed back Danny Douglas after an injury and also had new signing Joe Halsall on the bench. They were however without both Sam Adkins and Dean Rathbone who were serving the second of a three match ban.
Reece Leek had already shown that he was going to be a hand-full with two fine runs down the right wing before he opened the scoring on 7 minutes. Mykel Beckley made ground down the left and when he cut inside he found Reece who powered into the box and struck a shot that was to strong for the Uni keeper to handle and it found the back of the net. On nine minutes a long ball by Josh Quaynor was misjudged by the visitors centre-half leaving Ricardo Reid free and he casually lifted the ball over the keeper and into the net for No2. On 14 minutes a deep cross from Rob Evans found Shane Benjamin at the far post, his header back across the goal left Mykel Beckley with a tap in for the third. The Uni had contributed to an entertaining game and were fit and fast as you would expect, and they enjoyed the surface but they lacked any penatration, that is until the 40th minute when James Winchester, Uni's best player on the night, found space on the right side of the penalty box and his smart strike went across Paul Hathaway in the Coleshill goal and into the far corner of the net.
Half time Coleshill 3, University 1.
The second half was a bit of an anti-climax with Loughborough having more possession but rarely troubled the Town goal. With just three minutes of the half gone, Tom Weale took a free kick quickly and found Shane Benjamin in the box. The prolific striker still had lots to do but his strength allowed him to turn his man and shoot across the keeper for Coleshill's fourth. The Uni keeper, Wright denied Benjamin in an almost identical move, then a Benjamin scissor-kick went just over the bar. The pressure never stopped for the visitors when Ricardo Reid was replaced by Danico Johnson and he had a shot well saved by Wright, but on 72 minutes Johnson got his goal when, after a fine run and cross by Leek found Benjamin in the box and he unselfishly crossed for the unmarked Johnson to roll into an empty net. Wright was still the busiest keeper as he pushed a Josh Quaynor free kick over the bar then he also denied Joe Halsall a debut goal as he turned a curling shot round the post, and Wright saved yet again at the foot of the post this time from Rico Taylor.
Ten home games in a row! Coleshill travel to Rocester on Saturday but are back at Pack Meadow next Tuesday against the old enemy, Highgate United!
