SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Inspired Stars Find Fresh Hope With Win

New joint managers Davion Hamilton and Hamza Collins saw Continental Star pick up just their second league win of the season as they beat Coleshill Town 1-0. But the result wasn't enough to lift them off the foot of the table as they are seven points adrift. The pair took charge of Star on the morning of the game and the players responded with an excellent display capped by Dan Holgate's goal on 62 minutes.

Coleshill Town and Continental Star have been playing each other most seasons for the best part of twenty years and you could "cut and paste" a report from any of those years and it would be the same. To beat Star, the first thing you have to do is match them for effort. It doesn't matter if they are going for promotion or desperately trying to avoid relegation, they fight for every ball and never, ever give up! Star had the added incentive of trying to impress the new management team and from the off they were well up for the game and were a yard quicker than the home side. They also grew in confidence as the game went on and fully deserved the only goal of the game by ex Town striker Dan Holgate who smashed the ball into the roof of the net on 62 minutes after a goal mouth scramble. With the threat of losing the game Coleshill started to play with some determination and by the closing stages they were camped in the Star half, but with some heroic and desperate defending, Star managed to block each and every Town effort to record just their second win of the season.
