SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill Town lost 1-0 at Heanor Town. (That's it, Pathetic!!!)

Coleshill have now played Heanor three times and have lost all three. Earlier in the season the two sides met for Coleshill's home game at Tamworth and on that occasion, Heanor were worthy winners but the two games at Heanor, one in the FA Vase last season and yesterdays game, were both decided by controversial refereeing decisions. The Vase game was very close but when the referee decided to send off Luke Edwards, Heanor took advantage and won the tie! Yesterday, when home keeper McCormack completely took out Danico Johnson, who would have surely scored had he not been up-ended by the stopper, the referee amazingly decided that a yellow card was sufficient punishment!
This was not a very entertaining game and neither side deserved the three points but apart from the above incident, Coleshill had the ball in the net twice, both goals ruled out for off side, and the aforementioned McCormack saved his side on more than one occasion with impressive saves. And despite being named man Of The Match by the opposition, Town keeper Paul Hathaway had one of his quietest afternoons'! The only goal of the game came three minutes from time when Demidh's free kick led to a goal mouth scramble that was blocked, saved and almost cleared but finally fell to Lynch who managed to find the net despite several Coleshill players throwing themselves infront of the ball.

Heanor Town FC looked to build on their comprehensive victory against Coventry Sphinx FC with a sterner challenge in Coleshill Town FC. The visitors, in eighth position, look to have signed the majority of the squad the performed so well last season when they finished second in the league.
Karl Demidh, returning from a mid-season break in Las Vegas, replaced Jay Cooper in the front line and it was he who fired at goal on eleven minutes. The strike had all the power, just little precision, the effort cleared the cross bar by some distance.
Just a minute later and a Cory Bowler delivery found the chest of Nathan Benger, his control gave space for Arash Abdollahi to fire a volley at goal. The move was excellent and so was the technique in the effort, the strike flashed agonisingly wide of the upright.
A moment of hesitation in the Heanor midfield gave Coleshill right back Guy Clarke space to send a ball over the top, Joe McCormack had to react to the onrushing Danico Johnson. The goalkeeper got his timing all wrong just outside the box, the covering Jordan Simpson doing enough to prevent the referee from showing a red card. The free kick was excellent but McCormack matched it, clawing the ball out of the top corner, pushing the ball wide for a corner Heanor dealt with easily.
Cory Bowler has been guilty of a strong of solid performances at left back, playing out of position and being pushed for a starting spot by Ryan Seale. His tackling can sometimes be that of a winger rather than a defender, the referee took exception to a challenge on the half hour and cautioned the player.
Coleshill Town FC brought a small, but vocal, support. They took the roof off the stand on thirty four minutes when the ball hit the back of the Heanor net. Thankfully the linesman was eagle eyed and wide awake, flagging the goal offside.
Bowler went on a marauding run on forty two minutes, his cross only hit the side netting but Bowler hit the deck. An injury forcing him to be stretchered back to the changing rooms saw Ryan Seale replace him in the action.

With the first half goalless and neither team making changes in formation or personnel for the second period it seemed it was a well matched affair.
New signing Simeon Osheboke joined the action from the bench just after the hour, replacing Nathan Benger. Osheboke previously played for Mickleover Sports FC alongside Heanor forward Karl Demidh.
With effort being made by two evenly matched teams to break the other down it was no shock to the 102 in The Town Ground that the efforts on goal became increasingly limited. In fact, the next chance of note came from Heanor skipper Nick Hall in the eightieth minute. Hall has only scored twice this season and he failed to add to that with a powerful, rushed effort that cleared the Keith Costello stand behind the goal.
It took until three minutes from time before a strike beat Coleshill goalkeeper Paul Hathaway. With all the fire power that The Lions have it had to be defender Ashleigh Lynch who volleyed the loose ball under the shot stopper, the initial effort coming from central defensive partner Jordan Simpson.
Coleshill forward Dean Rathbone tried all he could do to level to scores in added time, his effort more opportunist than predatory as the strike landed in the conifers behind the goal.
