COVENTRY EVENING TELEGRAPH WROTE
Delight As Sphinx Break Duck

Coventry Sphinx manager Willie Knibbs was delighted after his side notched their first victory of the season with a 4-0 eclipse of wooden-spoonists Coleshill Town. "Coleshill might not be the best of teams but we scored four goals and did not concede which was a tremendous morale booster for the lads who had been playing some decent stuff without getting the reward they deserved," says Knibbs. Knibbs singled out midfielder Micky Callander and the front pair of Martin Taylor and Nathan Morrison for special praise along with Ezra McIntosh who made a dazzling debut on the left of midfield. Knibbs snapped up young McIntosh from Whitley Juniors but his first appearance had been delayed by injury. "It was worth the wait, he showed a lot of promise," adds Knibbs. Callender headed home a Jim McNulty cross to give Sphinx the lead on 15 minutes and Taylor made it 2-0 on the half hour after he had been put through by Morrison. Joey Fletcher added a third from the penalty spot after sub Neil Rowe - on for McIntosh - had been brought down with 15 minutes to go and Taylor wrapped it up just before time following good work by Callander.
