Coventry Evening Telegraph Wrote
GPT Coventry lost their unbeaten record when they went down 2-0 at Coleshill Town. Marconi missed two good chances and the game looked booked for a goalless draw until John Flavell handled in the box ten minutes from time and Mark Charnley netted from the spot. Coleshill added a second in the final minute.

Title Favourites Just Warming Up
After a successful 1996-97 Endsleigh Premier season when they finished third, Coleshill Town are being ripped as championship favourites this time round. And Martin Society's men are living up to the expectations. After six games, they are the only unbeaten side in the table with three draws and three wins to their credit,, including the scalp of leaders GPT from Coventry. The only bad news for the rest of the league is that by the manager's own admission, the Packington Lane based side are still "warming up."
