Frustrated Swifts Grounded by Eight Man Coleshill
Eight man Coleshill found it tough at the top after a bruising battle with Bolehall ended 2-0 to the Town. Justin Wiseman took full advantage of a first minute penalty to give the league leaders a Dream start and in the 26th minute Mark Charnley grounded the Swifts with a tap in second at the far post. But Charnley and team mate Des Seivwright were sent off before the break and Loz Cairns followed suit in the second half. Bolehall also lost a player as Coleshill frustrated the Swifts.
SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill town boss Martin Sockett refused to comment about the refereeing decisions which saw three of his players and a visiting defender sent off in the crunch derby 2-0 win over fellow title contenders Bolehall Swifts. But he did state that apart from two suspect challengers on the players, there had not been a bad tackle in the game. "It was certainly a strange game but I do not want to get down to criticising the officials. It was a derby clash and there was a referee from Tamworth where Bolehall are based and two 16 year old linesmen. The linesmen did well and the referee made what he thought were the right decisions at the time. What worries me is that we may now miss three key players through suspensions at a time when crunch games are coming up."

Eight Men Prove To Be Enough
Top of the tables struggles are always going to be tough.....no matter how hard managers try to play down there significance. The pre-match talk of "this won't decide the title", are, after all, attempts to avoid a pressure cooker atmosphere. Theory is all well and good but it so rarely becomes fact and, inevitably, the occasion proved to illustrate just how much either side wanted to win. By half time Coleshill were down to nine men, and two goals up and Swifts doubtless thought the tide was moving their way. It had taken just 83 seconds for the first goal to materialise, when the referee's intervention and the wave of a finger gave Coleshill's Justin Wiseman the opportunity to convert from the penalty spot. Nine minutes later the referee was again pointing to the spot but this time Wiseman squandered the chance, ramming his shot against the bar. Swifts had to continue defending and a free kick on the edge of the box was cleared after a retake, before the again submitted to the quick fire Coleshill forwards. With 32 minutes gone on the clock, a shot could only be parried by Swifts keeper Birt and into the path of the rampaging Mark Charnley who found himself with the easiest of tap-ins to put Coleshill two-nil up. Continual stoppages throughout the match brought plenty of injury time in the first half and that left Coleshill minus two men. That proved the lift that Swifts needed and like the proverbial bees around the honey pot, they camped in the Coleshill half though the honey eluded them. Eleven minutes into the second half and two more players were off, one from both teams and that again set the game back. Swifts Dale Roberts pushed keeper Glover to his limits with a well struck volley and while Meer, Phillips and Eivors all had opportunities to give Swifts a way back, they never managed to get the ball into the net, leaving Coleshill four points clear.
