SOLIHULL NEWS WROTE
Jekyll & Hyde, That’s Highgate

Highgate might consider renaming themselves “Jekyll & Hyde FC” after an uninspiring fifth home defeat in a row followed hot on the heels of the previous week’s astonishing cup success at Worcester. Trailing by two goals at the break, Highgate nudged back into contention with a spectacular 83rd minute strike, but it never looked enough to trouble the unbeaten visitors. Top scorer Mark Charnley did the early damage, sneaking behind the Gate defence to flick home a Cairns free kick after 12 minutes. Sixteen minutes later Neil Frost set off on a mesmerising run that took him past three defenders before squeezing the ball past Hunt in the United goal. Highgate settled more after the break and came agonisingly close to cutting the deficit when Garry Roberts lofted in an outrageous long-range lob which looked a winner all the way until keeper Manual somehow managed to touch it over. The home side salvaged some pride when Suter went past his man in style and crossed for Ibrahims to hammer in a stunning far post volley seven minutes from time.
