SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill Lose Both Charnleys

Striker Paul Charnley's return will not come quickly enough for Coleshill Town after they were forced to rule out his hot-shot brother Mark. Illness has meant Mark -who had bagged ten goals in 11 games - has not been able to play for the last six weeks, and now there are fears he could be suffering from an ulcer. But Paul, out all season with a broken ankle, has his sights on a Christmas return after stepping up his training with the Pack Meadow club. Manager Martin Sockett, who has seen Coleshill's lack of firepower dent their title challenge, said "He is looking at the middle of December to play, though that might be a little optimistic. We just hope he can put his injury behind him and it will be a real boost to have him back in." Injuries have dogged Coleshill all season and now doctors have confirmed that Peter Kirkham and Dave Carmichael will need second knee operations. Midfielder Gary Smith also needs a hernia operation. Sockett added "The injuries have been a nightmare but we've got to keep plugging away. There's no point moaning about it."

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill cruised into the next round by beating Dudley Sports 2-0. Adam Wardle headed the hosts one up on the hour and Loz Cairns chipped the keeper from 30 yards in the 79th minute for the second. Some superb keeping from Dudley's Lee Beresford prevented a second half goal spree from Coleshill.
