League Set To Impose Lights Rule

The Endsleigh Midland Combination Premier Division will be all floodlit next season. The league management have issued a "no going back" message to member clubs following their earlier commitment to a "lights only" rule on identical lines to the parallel Banks Brewery Premier Division. Secretary Norman Harvey said that the league was already proposing to run a Premier Division next season with at least 14 clubs with lights. Some observers feel that it is wrong to see long established clubs without lights relegated while "paper clubs" without a ground keep a Premier Division place through ground sharing. With the Banks Brewery league and the Leicester Senior league both having a lights only policy, the Midland Combination had no alternative to do the same in order to maintain a feeder link to the Interlink Midland Alliance league.

Joy Turns To Pain

Coleshill Town's delight at being able to call upon a full squad has quickly faded after FOUR players picked up injuries. Manager Martin Sockett was last week was looking forward to a series of tricky, if welcome, selection posers, but now Justin Wiseman, Gary Smith, Andy Burnham and Nick Lee have all found themselves on the injury list. But he insists that Coleshill's title challenge is not over after a win over Bilson CC extended their unbeaten run to ten games. Midfielder Wiseman is undergoing a long awaited knee operation, while Smith has been told he will need a hernia operation. There are also fears that fellow midfielder Lee's knee problem could be medial ligaments, while Burnham has a calf muscle strain.

Charnley's Two Goal Salvo A Tough Lesson For College

Coleshill Town striker Mark Charnley marked his come back with a two goal salvo to shoot down high flying Bilston Community College. Charnley returned to the side following a three month injury lay off with both goals in a 2-0 win over the college side at Pack Meadow. He struck first on the hour and then made sure of a Coleshill victory when he touched home Gary Shaw's cross ten minutes from time.
