SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
The battle for third spot hotted up as Coleshill Town beat Highgate United 2-1. A 30 yard volley from Ricky Smith put Town on their way and team mate Mark Charnley doubled the advantage following a free kick. Coleshill should have stretched their lead after a string of chances but it was Lennard Taylor who grabbed one back for Highgate.

SOLIHULL TIMES WROTE
Neither Side Satisfied

Neither side will be satisfied with their performance in this drab end of season encounter. Coleshill took the points by virtue of two goals during the only entertaining period of a forgettable ninety minutes. Both sides had gone close in the opening minutes, Smith twice testing keeper Richard Steeples, while at the other end Gate’s Gary Roberts sent a close range header into Manual’s hands. Smith put the home side ahead after ten minutes, breaking through unchallenged to send an unstoppable 25 yard drive in off a post. Five minutes later Coleshill were two up when Steeples dropped Smith’s cross to present Burnham with the simplest of chances. Graham Burden tried hard to get his side back into contention, testing Manuel with a header and a low shot that flew dangerously across the face of goal. But with chances few and far between Gate had to wait until the 70th minute to reduce the deficit through David Powell.
