Season Review
After two disappointing seasons under manager Bob Nimmons, Coleshill decided to make a change and Martin Sockett came in during the summer as First Team Manager and Martin Smith as his assistant. Sockett had lots of contacts and set about trying to develop Coleshill into championship contenders but he had a tough job on his hands and it took most of the season to transform the side. Town had a good run in the league Challenge Cup and reached the quarter final before losing to Bloxwich Town who went on to not only win the cup but they were League Champions as well. There was an early exit in the Birmingham Senior Cup but a 3-1 loss to the holders Solihull Borough was no disgrace. They also played in the Midland Triangular Cup but fell at the first hurdle to Knowle. As players came and went Coleshill were never in any relegation trouble but they could not force themselves into the top six which was the aim at the start of the season. They had many injuries to key players including two goalkeepers and had to settle for a 10th place finish. Highlights were a 6-2 win over Olton Royale and a run of games in March where they scored 13 goals in three games. 76 goals for was the best return for 12 years but 66 against was the problem with the manager admitting that they had to score at least three goals to win a game. Sockett had shown enough for the committee to retain him for the next season.
