Season Review
The top ten teams from last season moved up to the newly formed Midland Alliance and only 18 teams remained in the Midland Combination Premier. After finishing in 17th place in his first season, Manager Bob Nimmons promised a top six place this time round, but by October Coleshill were out of all the cups and were second from bottom of the league with just one win from eight games. Three wins in four games including a 5-1 thumping of Highgate United lifted the gloom and by the turn of the year one defeat in six games lifted them out of the relegation dog fight. A settled side and 14 goals between Jason Phillips, Jonathan Johnson and Jimmy Stafford in that run the reason for the upturn in form. With only 34 league games to play Coleshill entered the Midland Combination Invitation Cup and beat Chelmsley to reach the Semi Final. Unfortunately, no records are available of the outcome although they must have lost to one of the Finalists, Hanrahan Timbers or West Midlands Fire Service. Coleshill remained in mid table for the rest of the season, the highest they got was 9th after wins over Highgate, who finished bottom, Studley and Shirley but just two points from the last four games meant Town dropped to 14th position. It was time for a change and Martin Socket replaced Bob Nimmons in the summer.
