SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Alvechurch took advantage (Shirley and Studley drew 1-1) and extended their lead at the top with a 3-0 win over Coleshill Town. Wade Nicholls bagged two goals for the Lye Meadow side, Andy Horne adding the third, all coming in the first half.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Young Alvechurch defender Ross Lester celebrated his call up to the first team for the 3-0 win over struggling Coleshill Town - only to be stretchered off. Lester, who has a suspected broken leg, and midfielder Mathew Bourne, another 17 teen year old from the club's successful Stourport Boys League side, were both promoted after attracting rave reviews.

*This is the first time Coleshill and Alvechurch met in a league game. They did play each other in a Birmingham Senior Cup game in 1991 when Church were in the Southern League and Town in the Midland Combination Premier. Alvechurch won 7-2.
