SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Shock of the day was at Tile House Lane where Shirley Town slumped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of lowly Coleshill Town, and it was a defeat that prompted manager Pete Sysum to say it was the worst his side had played all season. Jimmy Stafford opened the scoring mid way through the first half. The second half was just three minutes old when Phillips made it 2-0.

SOLIHULL TIMES WROTE
Shirley Town's storming start to the season came off the rails when they were beaten 2-0 at Tilehouse Lane by Coleshill Town. "It was our worst performance in two years," claimed manager Pete Sysum, "I can only remember Shirley having one shot on target." Victory could have taken Shirley to top spot - instead they stay third.
