Team: Darren Baker, Neil Hughes, Errol Black, Colin Cooke, John Taylor, Mark Hopkins, Steve Whipps, Delroy Amory, Jonathan Johnson, Paul Wilson, Jimmy Byrne. Subs Eamon Murphy, Jimmy Stafford. (Confirmed)

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Wellesbourne nearly opened the scoring after just three minutes when, from a defensive blunder, Perry got in behind the defence but a desperate goal line clearance by Black kept the ball out. At the other end Coleshill won a corner and but for a superb save by Bishop, Taylor could have put Coleshill infront. Bishop also made a splendid save from Byrne following a cross field ball. Wellesbourne broke the deadlock on 22 minutes when, from a throw, the ball fell to Clements whose miss hit shot was directed into the goal by Perry. The game got rather bogged down in midfield with both sides lacking in ideas. Coleshill were upset not to be awarded a penalty after 34 minutes when the referee, surprisingly, awarded a free kick.
Half Time Wellesbourne 1 v 0 Coleshill.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Wellesbourne broke the deadlock after 22 minutes when Clements received the ball from a throw and his miscued shot was turned into the net by Parry. Wellesbourne started brightly in the second half and created a number of chances. One which bounced just out of Perry's reach with the goal beckoning and the second finding Martin hesitating slightly and then letting the defender get in a challenge. Coleshill looked dangerous on the break, but on 57 minutes Wellesbourne increased their lead when Perry robbed a defender and delivered a fine cross for Sheppard to force the ball home. Wellesbourne netted again in the 70th minute when good work by Martin put Perry clear. Coleshill scored as the defence waited for an off-side decision when Amory calmly beat Bishop.

STRATFORD UPON AVON HERALD WROTE
Perry Double In Bourne Boost

After a good performance against Coleshill, Wellesbourne were celebrating their first home win in the Premier Division of the Skol Midland Combination - and their third success in the space of a week. Wellesbourne were denied an early goal when the lively Darren Perry got behind the Coleshill defence but saw Black make a desperate goal-line clearance to keep out his shot. Gary Bishop - back in the Wellesbourne goal - made fine saves from a powerful Taylor header and a fierce drive by Byrne. The home side went in-front on 22 minutes when Mike Clements received the ball from a throw in and his miscued shot was turned into the net by Perry. The game then became scrappy and Coleshill claimed a penalty before the interval but the referee gave them an indirect free-kick which came to nothing. Wellesbourne started the second half by creating a number of chances with the ball just bouncing away from Perry with the goal at his mercy, and uncharacteristic hesitation from Craig Martin allowed a defender to get in a challenge. Coleshill looked dangerous on the break but Wellesbourne went two up after 57 minutes. Perry robbed a defender, laid the ball off to Nick Kearney and, when his shot was blocked, Dave Sheppard forced the ball in from an acute angle. At the other end, Amory missed, both times, when allowed unchallenged headers from free-kicks and it was Wellesbourne who scored a third goal after 70 minutes. Good work by Martin set up Perry for his second goal - at the second attempt. Coleshill got their consolation goal ten minutes from the end as the home defence waited in vain for an offside whistle and Amory went through to shoot past Bishop. Johnson also missed a good chance for the visitors and Wellesbourne had confident claims for a penalty turned down as they finished worthy winners.
