SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
West Brom established an early lead in the first half which saw both sides presented with plenty of opportunities to score. The first shot of the game came from Coleshill's Jimmy Byrne which was just touched away by Webb. The corner was taken by Murphy and cleared for a throw. A short clearance away from goal by Chapman went straight to West Bromwich giving an excellent goal opportunity seized by Oscar. A good play down the field by Coleshill resulted in a cross by Smith headed just wide by Amory. Both sides had made several shots on goal but the half time score line stands at 0-1
Half Time Coleshill 0 v 1 West Brom.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Two second half goals sealed West Brom's progress into the second round. Oscar put them ahead in a fairly even first period. But West Brom had much more determination in the second half and were rewarded with goals from Mathews and M. Byrne.
