SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
West Midlands Police maintained their second in the table spot with a win carved out by an 81st minute penalty from Hopcroft. In poor conditions Cooke experienced problems controlling the ball and goalkeeper Hart was left in an awkward situation which resulted in him impeding a Police player. It was obviously a penalty and Hopcroft grabbed the chance to give the Police three valuable points. Coleshill, a determined side, had their share of the game with Bennett going close to putting them ahead in the first half. Both Scriven and Portman went close for the Police in the second half before Hopcroft's winner.
