COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Derby Disaster For Oak

Mile Oak's hopes of building on their excellent Staffordshire Senior Cup draw with Stoke City were given a major dent on Saturday as they fell to their tenth league defeat of an increasingly frustrating season. After such a good performance to hold the Potteries team Mile Oak hoped for success on Saturday and Coleshill must have feared the worst. But, Oak turned in a lack-lustre performance and the Pack Meadow team went from Price Avenue with a great victory. Other than the first 15 minutes when O'Conner should have put Rovers in front, Coleshill were always on top. Cockerill put them ahead on 16 minutes and then Teeling, from the spot, and Barnes gave the visitors a comforting three goal interval advantage. The second period was much the same and only good goalkeeping by Brookes kept Rovers in the match. However even he couldn't prevent Cockerill completing his hat-trick with goals on 54 and 62 minutes. A great win for Coleshill but how Oak need a morale boosting league win!

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Mile Oak slumped to their 10th defeat in 11 outings when they were hammered by a hat-trick from Ian Cockerill. Coleshill completely dominated the match after Cockerill put them ahead in the 16th minute following some smart work by Jennings. Malcolm Teeling then converted a penalty after Rosborough had been brought down. Some good work by Jennings paved the way for Eddie Barnes to notch Coleshill's third just before the break. Only three good saves by Mile Oak goalkeeper Gary Brookes prevented a complete rout. Brookes however could not prevent Cockerill from completing his hat-trick with two more goals in the 54th and 62nd minutes.
