SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
By Derek Gordon
Coleshill made all the running in this FA Vase clash at Middlefield Lane and were full value for their 3-0 interval lead. The visitors opened their account after only two minutes when Chris (think this is Neil)Hughes won possession before setting up Kevin Byrne who scored with a low shot from just inside the box. In the 17th minute Coleshill struck again. A corner kick by Byrne was only half cleared and Greg Bennett hit in the first time cross from Frank Hickman to hit in from almost the goal line. At the other end Warren fired inches wide after a clever turn inside the box but the visitors retaliated with Greg Bennett seeing his trial timer blocked. Soon after Brad Russell headed well wide from six yards but Coleshill were not to be denied and a minute before the interval added the third goal when Teeling’s first shot was deflected into his own net by Warren.
Half Time: Hinckley 0 3 Coleshill.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill's Vase Delight

Travelling Coleshill supporters had hardly settled in their places before they found their team two goals to the good in this FA Vase clash at the Middlefield Lane ground, Hinckley. The first of these came in the third minute when Tony Malanaphy won the ball on the left flank and sent over a well judged cross from just in front of the corner flag. Midfielder Kevin Byrne came racing in and struck home with a powerful ground shot from just outside the box. Four minutes later Brad Russell, in setting out a corner kick for Coleshill on the right, spotted right back Greg Bennett racing up for the short corner. Bennett's perfectly flighted shot was headed on by Frank Hickman to give the visitors a commanding lead after only seven minutes. Undaunted, Hinckley had no choice but to apply some pressure of their own, but the strangest goal of the game came just before the interval when Coleshill's left winger Malcolm Teeling spotted Warren standing just in front of his goal and decided to try for a deflection off the back of the defenders head. (This is Malc's version as he explained it to me in the bar after the game; he got the idea from watching snooker on TV!) The second half was a different story. The Coleshill sweeper, Neil Hughes, went off with an injury in the 56th minute and after that the defence looked rather off balance. Hinckley pulled two goals back in the space of eight minutes and the Coleshill entourage went through some anxious minutes before the game was put beyond doubt with six minutes to go by centre-forward Frank Hickman following some brilliant work by substitute Rory Cash.

Man Of The Match: Frank Hickman.
In the next round of the Vase, Coleshill are at home against United Counties Premier side Hamlet S&L from Corby on October 6th 3.00pm Kick-Off.
