SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE

Coleshill made all the early chances and went on to dominate the whole game so that the score line was no more than an accurate reflection of their superiority. They had the ball in the net on 30 minutes. Whipps took a quick throw in at the left which was picked up by Cockerill to cross on to Teeling but his well-judged header was disallowed apparently for pushing. A minute later the emission was rectified by the Coleshill mid-field when Rosborough hit an unstoppable shot from 20 yards out following a well worked move involving Teeling, Russell and Hickman who laid the ball back for Rosborough to take the strike. The highlights of the second half were two goals from Ian Cockerill making his debut for Coleshill after being signed only that morning from Evesham United.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill dominated the first half. An early chance resulted from a long ball by Cooke deep inside his own half. Teeling put through a high cross to Hickman whose header went just over. Coleshill scored in the 27th minute. Russell knocked the ball back to Hickman. He passed to Rosborough who scored.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill scored another notable triumph on Saturday bouyed on by their excellent victory in the FA Vase the week before. The Town side dominated from early on and their gradual build up of attacks made the end scoreline more than justified. Coleshill's early running almost produced two goals immediately with Frank Hickman just heading over on 11 minutes and then Greg Bennett going narrowly wide with a low shot. Coleshill then actually found the net - via a splendid Teeling header - only to see the effort ruled out. but any sense of disappointment was soon wiped out as the Town side then rattled home the opener with Jim Rosborough hitting an unstoppable shot from 20 yards out following a good move involving Teeling, Russell and Hickman. The high-light of the second half was two goals from striker Ian Cockerill making his debut for Coleshill after being signed only that morning from Evesham United. The first of these came three minutes after the interval when Greg Bennett's long cross was headed down by Hickman for Cockerill to hit a strong volley square into the centre of the goal. The third and last goal of the game which finally sealed the visitors fate was in the 66th minute and followed a long run down the left flank by Russell. His cross was met by Hickman who squared up for Cockerill to make no mistake from six yards out.
Man Of The Match: Ian Cockerill.

*Ian Cockerill scored on his debut!
