SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE

Walsall Wood took the lead in the 24th minute with a goal from centre forward Phil Hayward. Andy Roper won the ball in midfield and passed to Colin Kersely who put on a short pass for Haywood to run through the centre and score with an angled ground shot. Coleshill replied three minutes later. A long high cross from Colin Cooke found Malcolm Teeling unmarked close in to goal and Teeling took his time to score with a deliberate shot. Coleshill had most of the play in the second half and were unlucky not to get the winner.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Walsall Wood scored the first goal on the 24th minute with Hayward breaking through from the centre and beating Coleshill keeper Tye with a low angled shot. But Coleshill grabbed the equaliser three minutes later when right back Teeling blasted the ball home.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Draw Relief For Coleshill

Following four disastrous performances in which they had conceded no less that 15 goals, Coleshill were relieved to get a draw at high-fliers Walsall Wood who were second in the Scorline Premier table at the start of the day's league programme writes Derek Gordon.
From the start the visiting forwards were darting about amongst a defence that was plainly lacking in confidence and there was a number of close calls in which luck more than anything else kept the ball out of the Coleshill net. In the 24th minute the Walsall centre forward Phil Hayward finally got his side's just reward with an opening strike but surprisingly just three minutes later the Coleshill team were level. A brilliantly accurate high ball from Colin Cooke dropped to the feet of the unmarked Malcolm Teeling about six yards out from an open goal. Although there were shouts for off-side the lineman's flag stayed down and Teeling picked his spot to plant the ball home much to his own delight and the relief of his team mates. After this Coleshill came much more into the game and ten minutes from time they were unlucky not to snatch it when Colin Cooke sent in a spectacular header which flashed over the bar.
Man Of The Match: Colin Cooke.
