SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE

The only goal of the game came ten minutes after half time when Rosborough and Greaves worked well together on the right before pulling the ball behind a square defence, allowing striker John Taylor to race through and score with a sliding shot past the advancing Wylly. Hinckley really piled on the pressure for the last ten minutes of the game in a desperate attempt to get an equaliser but were kept out on three occasions by the woodwork and excellent goalkeeping from Tye.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill right-back Teeling went off injured in the 7th minute unsettling the defence. Smith took advantage of this to beat the off side trap but his shot was too tame. In the 15th minute Bennett had a good shot for Coleshill following a clearance from a corner and was unlucky to go just wide.
Half Time: Coleshill 0 v 0 Hinckley

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coleshill held out for three points despite the loss of two key defenders due to injuries writes Derek Gordon. The first of these blows came when right back Malcolm Teeling suffered injury problems as early as the 7th minute and the second arrived at the interval when Bennett never re-appeared for the second half. It left Coleshill obviously weakened but they still performed well and could have gone in at half time with the lead with chances for both Cockerill and Bennett. In the second session Coleshill grabbed that vital lead when good work between Jim Rosborough and Paul Greaves helped set up centre forward John Taylor to rush through and slide the ball home. Hinckley really piled on the pressure in a bid to equalise in the last ten minutes but excellent goalkeeping by Roger Tye and the helpful contribution of the woodwork kept Coleshill ahead. Very much on the plus side for the team, two players made their home debuts and both performed well. First, Paul Greaves, a young right winger, turned in a fine performance and convincingly made his claim for a regular place. Secondly, Bobbie Timms made his pack Meadow debut after a move from neighbours Bolehall and looks a great acquisition. All told, a good game in which the Man Of The Match accolade went to John Taylor.
