SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
The game was notable for the number of missed chances particularly by Coleshill. But the home side still finished as worthy winners. Bailey opened the scoring for Coleshill on the half hour when he turned and shot from close range from a cross by Timms on the left wing. Coleshill scored again 10 minutes later when Jenkins headed home from a corner taken by new comer Frain. The second half was more even and Mile Oak were denied a chance to get back into the game with 15 minutes to go when Desley just missed with a rising shot after being put through from a free kick just outside the penalty area.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill opened the scoring on the half hour after a number of missed chances by both teams. Timms crossed from the left flank to Bailey who turned and scored with a shot from close-range. Coleshill scored again ten minutes later with a header by Jenkins from a corner by Frain.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Coles Fell The Oak

This derby fixture in the Scoreline Combination Challenge Cup was noticeable for a series of missed opportunities - but it was still one of the most entertaining games seen at pack Meadow this season writes Derek Gordon. The Coleshill forwards in particular failed to convert some clear chances but the home side still emerged as worthy winners on the day. The match began with Mile Oak going close to notching an early lead via John Deeley while, at the other end, John Taylor was unlucky not to notch for the Cole boys. The scoring was opened by the ubiquitous Phil Bailey when he turned the ball home from close range from a well flighted cross by ex-Bolehall Swifts man Bob Timms. Coleshill scored again ten minutes later when centre half Wayne Jenkins headed home a corner from Peter Frain, newly signed from Darleston by manager Brian Jordan. Rovers then started to come more into the game and were twice denied by goal-line clearances by Coleshill defender Wayne Jenkins. The second half then saw a sterling display from both sides with a lot of commitment and goalmouth action - plenty of near misses but no more goals. Again the best chance fell to Deeley for Mile Oak and Taylor for Coleshill. All told, a fine game of football enjoyed by both sides - but Coleshill somewhat more!
Man Of The Match: Jim Rosborough.
