SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE

Alan Ollis played a corner in, Mark Hodges flicked it back for Mitchell to unleash a flying volley from 15 yards but Tye in the Coleshill goal saved it. Ten minutes later a good Coleshill cross looped over to the back post where an attacker headed towards goal but O’Connell somehow cleared off the line. Five minutes later Mark Hodges scrambled away a lob that beat the keeper and was heading towards the Borough goal. In the second half the game continued to be even until the 80th minute when Coleshill scored through Cockerill.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
The first half produced little chance of a goal. Ian Mitchell had Borough's best shot in the tenth minute when he unleashed a volley from a corner but it went straight to the Coleshill keeper. Ten minutes later Tye, in the Coleshill goal, denied John Mitchell as he tried to run round him. Coleshill's best chance came in the 22nd minute when a good cross looped over everyone to the back post and their attacker headed what looked to be a goal, but Maurice O'Connell somehow cleared off the line.
Half Time: Solihull Borough 0 v 0 Coleshill Town

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
A 59th minute strike by Ian Cockerill gave Coleshill a splendid victory on Saturday afternoon. Cockerill's winner arrived in the middle of a very even patch with both sides sharing the chances. Coleshill had done well in the first half and both sides had gone desperately close to opening the scoring but it wasn't until the hour mark arrived that the winner was notched to give the North Warwickshire team a very happy Christmas.
