SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill Town were the day's biggest movers following their 2-1 victory over AFC Wulfrunians in the only other league game. Chris Sterling and Dean Rathbone were on target for the home side, the latter from the spot, while Jake Webb scored for Wulfs.
COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
COLESHILL Town keeper Paul Hathaway has been described as "one of the best" in the league after a stunning save secured all three points against AFC Wulfrunians. Coleshill hung on to record an impressive 2-1 win with Hathaway's save coming just a minute after they scored their second.
It has been referred to as "unbelievably world class" on the club's Twitter feed and manager Paul Casey has this week heaped praise on the stopper for his efforts in between the sticks.
"He is definitely one of the best in the league," said boss CaseyHe has taken the armband on since Shane (Benjamin) left and has been an excellent leader for us. He has been captain for me before and brings a lot of experience to the side. It was a wonderful save.
"We have conceded only one in three games and to be honest that goal was a gift which we gave them so our keeper and defenders are doing their jobs and it is promising."
Coleshill took the lead five minutes before the break as new signing Chris Sterling scored once again, something which is also pleasing the boss.
The away side equalised on the 59th minute but Coleshill won a penalty just six minutes later, converted by Dean Rathbone.
"It was a tough game. Teams always seem to raise their game when you are on a bit of form," said Casey.
Reflecting on the team's performance, he added: "We dominated and their goal came from a pass back from our defender which the striker took round the keeper and tapped in.
"We had an injury towards the end and just went to pieces but we held on. We played well against them last year so we knew they would be up for it.
"We still aren't firing on all cylinders at the moment. We are hitting the post and bar but it is pleasing we are creating chances.
"We have won three on the bounce and are sitting in seventh with games in hand. We also have the Vase, League Cup and Birmingham Senior Cup to look forward to.
"Chris (Sterling) is only about 50 per cent fit at the moment. We might have to wait a few more games for him to settle down and be completely fit.
"He is strong, robust, experienced and knows how to finish. He hits the target more often than not."
With no midweek game, Coleshill can now prepare for the trip to Long Eaton United this Saturday.
