REPORT
On chances alone Coleshill should have been out of sight even before half time but fair play to Brocton, they kept in the game and as Town squandered chance after chance, the visitors grew in confidence and looked capable of snatching a point if not more. The goal that won the game was worthy of that but it came just four minutes from time and a few finger nails had been bitten before then.
Coleshill had new signing Jordan Nadat on the bench but were without a centre back so Craig Milligan stood in and did a fine job. Chris Sterling saw a glancing header go wide and Weston Hayles had a powerful shot well blocked by Gavin Hurren before the visitors went ahead from the penalty spot on seven minutes. Hurren blocked Dell's shot on the line and when the rebound fell to Weston Hayles, Hurren blocked his shot as well but the referee decided his arm was raised and pointed to the spot, harsh but just reward for the move. Dell scored from the spot. The Colemen started to take control and at times it was Coleshill versus the keeper! Aidan Stone saved just about everything Coleshill threw at him, and that was a lot. Dean Rathbone saw his shot tipped over the bar, then shot over from 20 yards and Luke Barlone did the same from 10 yards. On 26 minutes Coleshill did equalise but they needed a bit of luck as Barlone's shot took a wicked deflection leaving Stone stranded. Rathbone shot over again from a great position then Reece Leek's little flick was pushed away by Stone at full stretch, then Leek hit the post with a deft header. Chris Sterling then Corey Corrithers then tried to beat the keeper but Stone stood up to the challenge again with two impressive saves. 1-1 at half time but Town could have had four or five.
The second half started the same with Coleshill on top but it was Brocton who had the best chances as Craig Milligan blocked Weston Hayles' goalbound effort, then Wilson's rocket shot was blocked by his own player. Coleshill finally got the reward their play deserved on 55 minutes when Barlone picked out Sterling at the far post and his cross was met on the volley by the stretching Hurren who smashed the ball into the net. Game over? No, Brocton kept fighting. Leek's shot went millimetres wide, substitute Jordan Nadat set up Rathbone but he dragged his shot wide but with 14 minutes remaining the visitors levelled the scores. A free kick from Edwards was contested by Town keeper Paul Hathaway and an attacker, and when the ball spilled out Weston Hayles was on hand to force over the line from close range. Stone saved from Nadat, Josh Quaynor sent a free kick just the wrong side of the post, Rathbone hit the side netting then Nadat set up Rathbone again but Stone saved with his feet and Demitrius Smikle hit the side netting from the rebound. A great ball from Milligan sent Nadat free but Stone saved his shot, then corner after corner rained in on the Brocton goal but just as it looked as though they had held out, Coleshill found the winner with four minutes left on the clock. Barlone found Nadat with a fine cross field ball and the striker cleverly laid the ball into the path of Rathbone who, at last, picked his spot and found the back of the net. It was no more than Coleshill deserved but it took some time coming and knocked the stuffing out of a very courage's visiting side who had contributed to a very entertaining game.
