SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Cup Heroes Brought Back Down To Earth

Coleshill Town produced a stunning performance to ruin FA Cup heroes Westfields' warm-up to the biggest game in their history. The Colemen smashed the Hereford hosts 4-0 in the day's top clash to send Westfields to their first home defeat of the season. Tom Weale gave Coleshill a sixth- minute lead and Westfields conceded three more goals after the break as Josh Quaynor, Tom Fishwick and Reece Leek netted.

Westfields Beaten At Home

Westfields were completely outclassed by a dominant visiting Coleshill Town team who romped to a 4-0 away win over a disappointing Westfields team.

REPORT
The perfect performance? Well not quite but manager Paul Casey had a plan, asked his players to carry it out and they responded with a disciplined, professional display that made Westfields, who had started the season with ten straight wins, look very ordinary. The home side looked comfortable in possession and liked to play the ball out of defence but Coleshill's formation gave them no outlet and with Jordan Nadat and Tom Weale working their socks off up front mistakes happened. The opening stages saw two quality sides checking each other out. Thomas for Fields had the first chance but his left foot shot was easily saved by Town keeper Paul Hathaway and from then on, apart from coming to claim crosses, Hathaway had a very uneventful afternoon. On seven minutes Jordan Nadat harried the defence as they passed casually between each other and the keeper, forcing a missed placed pass that fell nicely for Tom Weale to stroke into an empty net. Chances were at a premium. Westfields best opportunities came via Thomas who looked dangerous on either wing but Coleshill's defence dealt comfortably with his crosses. At the other end Nadat shot on sight and Dean Rathbone shot over when well placed. Town had the ball in the net from a corner but Craig Milligan's effort was adjudged to be off side. Weale sent a free kick from 25 yards not too far over the bar, Nadat saw an effort saved by keeper Blackburn's feet. Corey Currithers did great to creep into the box along the bye line and his cross was hacked off the line. Coleshill had been so much on top but a single goal seemed unlikely to be enough as a second half onslaught was expected.

Coleshill continued to be the better side but a second goal eluded them. Currithers saw the keeper off his line and tried his luck from 40 yards and wasn't too far away. Fields substitute Wright had a shot from distance which was deflected and the home side were shouting for hand ball but nothing was given. Milligan shot from 30 yards that Blackburn had to be at full stretch to cover. Nadat's persistence earned a free kick just outside the box on 58 minutes and Josh Quaynor lifted the ball over the wall and into the top corner of the net, 2-0. The home side had a series of corners and a combination of Hathaway and Rob Evans blocked Saunston's goal bound effort, then Evans cleared up a dangerous opportunity for Greaves after another fine run by Thomas, then the same player shot wide as Westfields tried desperately to get back into the game. Nadat had been a thorn in the home defence's side and won a free kick when Glover hauled him to the ground. Weale took the kick and Blackburn flapped at the cross, the ball falling nicely for Tom Fishwick to stroke into an empty net. 3-0 78 minutes gone. On 84 minutes a great ball by Evans found Reece Leek in ocean's of room and he casually rolled the ball under the body of the advancing Blackburn for number four. Corey Currithers had a header cleared off the line and Blackburn saved an Evans free kick as Coleshill continued to have the better chances.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Casey's Delight As Coleshill Follow Game Plan To The Letter

WESTFIELDS' 100 per cent home league record came to an abrupt halt as they were stunned by a resurgent Coleshill Town last weekend.
Seven straight home wins and a 100 per cent FA Cup record which has even seen them reach the First Round proper – but Westfields were humbled as goals from Tom Weale, Josh Quaynor, Tom Fishwick and Reece Leek marked a triumphant win.

So just how did they manage it?

"First of all the players did what I asked them to do. They followed the game plan to the letter and to be honest we hammered them. We knew they were beatable," explained a proud Paul Casey, Coleshill manager.

"I was very upset last Saturday against Alvechurch. The players let me down. The lads were so excited but their preparation was poor. This time it was good. This performance has been coming. We can beat anyone.

"We have taken some big scalps over the years so we know how to see a game through. It was our best performance of the season but I think they are still favourites for the league.

"Obviously they would have been thinking about their FA Cup game this weekend. If we were in the same position I might struggle to get a team out! 75 per cent was us being really on our games, I think 25 per cent was them having an eye on Saturday."

Jordan Nadat took the man of the match award and Casey was keen to heap praise on his new signing this week.

"He has led the line really well for us. He wasn't fit when he got here because he hadn't played a lot," he said.

"But I think he has been involved in almost every goal we have scored since he got here. He hasn't scored yet but if he goes to the end of the season like this I will be happy. He pressurises defenders, he cuts in and he keeps running."

Despite the nature of the victory and the huge statement it will undoubtedly send out to the rest of the league, Casey is keen for his players to keep their feet on the ground as they prepare to travel to Loughborough on Saturday.

He added: "It is a long season. We haven't won 20 on the bounce, we have won one game. It is November, not April. We haven't done anything yet.

"It's alright going to beat the form team but then we go to Loughborough who can pass you off the park. It is a really tough league. The key is going to be for us to keep the ball. If we don't we might not get it back. They are a fit side with a good coach and they make their pitch massive. They play the game properly and we know it will be tough."

WESTFIELDS HAMMERED AT HOME

Westfields lost their second consecutive league game when visiting Coleshill Town beat the FA Cup Giantkillers 4-0 at allpay.park on Saturday with a convincing display.

Westfields gave a disappointing display and gifted their visitors with a couple of soft goals especially in the opening minutes when a James Sauntson square pass in the penalty area was gleefully intercepted and put away by Tom Weale to open the score line. Westfields had a couple of chances but Aidan Thomas and Ben Miller failed to take advantage as the visitors went in 1-0 at the break.

After the interval Coleshill increased their lead with a free kick from full back Josh Quaynor after Sam Plane had been penalised.

Westfields then gave a 3rd goal away when they failed to clear their lines leaving Tom Fishwick with a clear shot on goal, then late in the game Reece Leek gave the visitors a 4-0 win when again Westfields had given the ball away in the earlier build-up.
