REPORT
Although the team changes just about every year, you still know what you are going to get when the play the Students. They are a young, talented bunch, full of pace and they never stop running. This season they are having a good run losing just three times from their thirteen games so far, and only once at home with impressive wins over Highgate and Long Eaton and a 3-3 draw with Lye Town. Coleshill were in a confident mood following the tremendous win at Westfields last week end but suspensions are starting to kick in with forwards Jordan Nadat and Luke Shorthouse unavailable so Josh Sherrington was handed the No9 shirt.
It was a fast start at the excellent facility at the University with the dangerous Oladapo having the first shot that Town keeper Paul Hathaway saved. An even, end to end game saw a Josh Quaynor shot from 22 yards go over the bar, Hathaway saved from Oladapo again but this time at full stretch and a Craig Milligan shot from 30 yards was tipped over the bar by home keeper O'Keefe. Town took the lead just after the half hour and although the records may show Gavin Hurren as the scorer, it was an own goal as O'Keefe dropped a cross and saw the ball bounce off a defender and dribble over the line. Uni almost equalised with a clever back heel from Dasaolu but Hathaway stood tall to save and the half ended with Town one goal to the good.
Loughborough started the second half well with Bridge heading wide from a great position and the same player saw a cross/shot tipped over the bar by Hathaway. But on 53 minutes they did draw level. A fine move cut Town open down the right side and a Oladapo shot went across Hathaway and was going in but Bridge got a touch just in front of Andre Gonzales. Reece Leek had a great chance to put Town back in front but chose to pass rather than shoot from a great position, Oladapo shot just wide of the post. On 62 minutes Coleshill re-took the lead when Hurren burst out of defence and slotted the ball through for midfield runner Milligan who saw his first shot saved by O'Keefe but the ball fell kindly for him and he made no mistake with his second attempt. Uni weren't disheartened and came back strongly. Read almost finished off a fine move but saw Hathaway save his effort with his feet, then on 67 minutes the goal of the game. Oladapo picked the ball up just inside the Coleshill half and he just kept running and running going past player after player and when he reached the six yard box he looked up and picked his spot bending the ball past Hathaway and into the net. 2-2. The game could have gone either way at this point, Dasaolu shot straight at Hathaway and Read bent a shot just the wrong side of the post but Town substitute Curvin Ellis turned the game with his direct running which pinned the students back. Ellis had a shot caught by O'Keefe then put a through ball in for Milligan but his effort was again saved by O'Keefe. Another substitute, Corey Currithers made a great run down the left and found Reece Leek with the perfect pass and this time the winger decided to shoot and blasted the ball into the net. 84 minutes and Town were 3-2 up. Ellis had another run and shot before, in time added on, Giovanni Dainty burst into the box, turned back to pick out Craig Milligan all alone on the edge of the area and he powered his shot into the roof of the net.
Two fine back to back wins on their travels, not many teams will get three points at Westfields and Loughborough, and now the FA Vase to look forward to, a competition that Coleshill have enjoyed over the last few years.
