SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Colemen Shrug Off Losing Boss In Style

Managerless Coleshill Town climbed into the top three after thumping Shawbury United 6-1 at Pack Meadow. And they had striker Mykel Beckley in sparkling form with a 17 minute hat-trick who cruised into a four goal lead at the break. Any thoughts Coleshill had been left in a spin by the departure of manager Paul Casey to Hednesford were soon forgotten as Beckley opened the scoring after just nine minutes. Luke Shorthouse also struck a goal in each half with Solihull Moors loanee Curvin Ellis also on target.

REPORT
By Craig Hamilton

Coleshill took on Shawbury United in their first game after the departure of manager Paul Casey and it was left to Simon Lyons to take control of the team.
Coleshill started on the front foot and the first chance saw Tom Weale have a shot from 18 yards saved by the Shawbury keeper Asson. However after good pressing by the Coleshill midfield they took the lead when the ball fell to Mykel Beckley who controlled the ball and hit a sweet shot from the edge of the box for 1-0 12 minutes.
Shawbury then had their first attack as the ball was played through to Hodge but Hathaway saved his first shot then pushed the rebound wide. Coleshill then gained control and a lovely ball over the Shawbury defence by Craig Milligan saw Beckley run free and score from inside the box 2-0 19 minutes. Coleshill were now well on top and a ball into the penalty area from the left found Luke Shorthouse who controlled the ball and turned and beat the keeper with a low shot 3-0 23 minutes. It was all Coleshill now and a great ball down the left found Beckley who cut inside the defender and curled the ball into the far corner for his hat-trick and 4-0 on 28 minutes.
However Shawbury were not deterred and when Cooper received the ball in midfield nothing seemed on for him but he ran at the Coleshill defence and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards, 4-1. Then as the first half came toward an end Coleshill's Corey Currithers ran at the Shawbury defence beating three players but saw his cross/shot just missed at the far post by Shorthouse.
Half Time 4-1.

Coleshill came out in the second half and immediately took control again and it wasn't long before they increased their lead as Josh Quaynor ran down the left wing and crossed a superb ball into the 6 yard box for Shorthouse to easily head home 5-1, 54 minutes. Craig Milligan then missed a great chance as he put the ball over the bar from 20 yards, but he soon made amends when his left wing corner was met with a great header by substitute Curvin Ellis who had just come on for Shorthouse, 6-1 66 minutes.
Shawbury kept on trying and late in the game Nesbitt hit the post then saw another shot flash across the goal but it was to no avail.

Coleshill dominated the game from start to finish to run out 6-1 winners but praise must go to a young Shawbury side that never gave up and played some good football.
