SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Town Blast A Way Through
Coleshill Town breezed into the last 32, thanks to a dazzling first half display against MFL League rivals Westfields to win 4-1. A brace from Tom Weale put them in the driving seat and Gio Dainty headed home. The win was secured when Jordan Nadat fired home before the visitors hit a consolation through Richard Greaves.
NON-LEAGUE PAPER WROTE
Weale Turns For Colemen
Not even the most on-eyed Coleshill Town supporter would have predicted this one sided result against their Midland Premier title rivals but they thoroughly deserved to reach the Vase last 32 for the third time in three years. (Four Years) Two goals from Tom Weale inside 17 minutes left the Colemen firmly in charge and further goals from Giovanni Dainty and Jordan Nadat sealed a winning margin that could easily have been doubled. Weale side-footed home the first goal on ten minutes after Dainty rolled a pass across the edge of the penalty area and then Weale slotted home an angled finish on the turn after Dale Taylor had slotted a pass through the defence. Coleshill should have been further ahead when James Febery was penalised for hand ball from Nadat's flick but Dean Rathbone's penalty hit the inside of the post and Rathbone couldn't bundle in the loose ball. Nadat and Rathbone missed further sitters and Nadat hit the post but the third goal came on 31 minutes when Dainty headed home a Craig Milligan cross at the near post. Three minutes into the second half, Coleshill led 4-0 thanks to Nadat, Out of sorts Westfields grabbed a consolation goal in injury time when Richard Greaves poked home after his initial header had been saved by Paul Hathaway.
STAR MAN: Jordan Nadat (Coleshill)
By Craig Hamilton
Coleshill Town took on high flying Westfields but nobody expected the same result as when Coleshill travelled to Westfields in the league where they won convincingly 4-0.
The first real attack of the game came from Coleshill as Gio Dainty went down the left and crossed the ball into the area only for Tom Weale to lift his shot over the bar. Then only a couple of minutes later the same two players combined again as Dainty squared the ball across the edge of the box and this time Weale side footed the ball past Blackburn in the Westfield goal for 1-0 with ten minutes on the clock. Coleshill were playing some good football closing Westfields down and giving them no time in midfield and this paid dividends on 17 minutes when Dale Taylor won the ball and passed to Weale to score under the keepers body from inside the box, 2-0. Coleshill were enjoying most of the possession and Jordan Nadat had a chance to increase the lead when he went one on one with the keeper but Blackburn made another good save. Nadat was causing all sorts of problems for the Westfields defence with his non stop running and when he knocked the ball past a defender the referee saw a hand ball and a rather soft penalty was given. Up stepped the normally reliable Dean Rathbone but he saw his spot kick tipped onto the post by Blackburn and then he could not net the rebound as the ball rolled across the goal line to the other post. Nadat then hit a sweet shot from 20 yards but saw his effort hit the post. Rathbone then missed an easy chance as he side footed wide from 6 yards. Westfields were finding it hard to get into the game and they didn't threaten the Coleshill goal until 30 minutes when Jones brought out a good save from Town keeper Paul Hathaway. Then a cross from the right was put wide by Thomas. But the Colemen increased their lead on 31 minutes when they won a free kick and the ball was played out to Craig Milligan on the right and his left foot cross was met perfectly by Dainty to head home at the near post for 3-0. Hathaway then made another great save as Westfields started to push forward and then Greaves put a shot just wide. Then in their best spell Westfields hit the crossbar after a free kick was blocked but the half ended 3-0.
Coleshill started the second half on the front foot and after only 3 minutes of the restart Jordan Nadat was sent clear down the right. The striker cut inside and saw his initial shot well saved by Blackburn but Nadat reacted quickest to get to the loose ball and score from an acute angle for 4-0 and just reward for all his hard work. Westfields then have several chances as first Thomas then Jones saw shots saved by Hathaway. Then Thomas saw Hathaway make a superb fingertip save from his curling shot. It was now end to end football with no end product from either side but then Bonella for Westfields curled a low free kick towards goal but again Hathaway pulled off a great save at the foot of the post. However in the last few minutes Westfields got a consolation goal as Greaves saw a header from a corner saved but then he netted the rebound.
Coleshill deserved the win with a dominant pressing game that didn't let Westfields have any time or space on the ball and could have doubled the score.
So Coleshill are now into the last 32 of the FA Vase and they now travel to Gorleston (Great Yarmouth) on 7 January 2017, to attempt to reach the last 16 for the first time in their history.
