SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill Town's title hopes were dented as they lost 2-0 to visitors Loughborough University.
This game will be best remembered for the collision late on between two Coleshill players. Jordan Nadat was taken to hospital by ambulance with concussion and a nasty cut above his left eye. Curvin Ellis also had a serious cut on his chin.
Coleshill were a shadow of the side that walloped Westfields in the Vase just two weeks ago and were well beaten by an impressive Uni side that played all the football on Pack Meadow's immaculate surface.
Coleshill started well enough, Corey Currithers had a header saved by O'Keefe, Tom Weale shot wide from 25 yards and then attempted to lob the keeper from the centre circle. Mykel Beckley then shot over the bar but the Uni were starting to take control of the midfield with some accomplished passing and took the lead on 38 minutes when Midveld was unchallenged from a corner and he thumped a header into the net. Currithers shot wide before Loughborough extended their lead just before the break. Bridge burst into the box from the left back position and saw his shot hit the post before coming off Town keeper Paul Hathaways' back and into the net.
Coleshill upped the pace in the second half, the best moves coming from the running and crossing of Corey Currithers but the visitors were rarely stretched and Town lacked ideas to break them down. The nearest they came was from a corner which Tom Fishwick headed just wide of the far post. The collision between Nadat and Ellis held up play for some time but the Students held on comfortably to record a well deserved three points.
