SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill Town are still in the hunt for honours following their 4-0 romp at Rocester - a fifth straight win for the men from Pack Meadow. And again there was an early goal to settle the nerves with Jordan Nadat glancing a header into the net from a free kick after just three minutes. The striker netted again on 13 minutes before Mykel Beckley added another on the stroke of hal time with a close range header. That was how it remained until eight minutes from the end when Nadat broke clear to complete his hat-trick.
MATCH REPORT
Another impressive win for the Colemen on a very difficult pitch but to be honest, they were up against a poor home team. Jordan Nadat was the hero with a hat-trick of goals but it was another team effort on an energy sapping heavy ground.
The match was in doubt up to the last minute due to the weather and it was touch and go! Coleshill were without, Rob Evans, Tom Fishwick, Dean Rathbone and Curvin Ellis for various reasons so Craig Milligan stepped into the centre back role. The squad was stretched to the limit with just three players on the bench and two of them from the Under 21's.
The home side lacked quality but they more than made up for that with energy, determination and some impressive man-handling tactics that the referee chose to mostly ignore. Had they managed to get in front and had something to hold on to it could have been a very difficult afternoon for the Colemen. As it was an early goal set the visitors on the way to a fifth straight win. Jordan Nadat scored with just three minutes on the clock with a deft header from a Josh Quaynor free kick and made it 2-0 on 13 minutes when sent clear by a Dale Taylor through ball. The Romans did create chances but just couldn't convert. Szondi was on his own at the far post but put his header straight into Paul Hathaway's hands. Home keeper Froggatt saved with his feet from Mykel Beckley, then a Beckley shot was cleared off the line with a diving header from Allen. Reece Leek was sent clear by an Andre Gonzales ball and his goalbound shot was deflected for a corner. Craig Milligan was caught in possession on the half way line allowing Szondi a run at goal but again he lacked composure and sent his effort well wide. Froggatt saved from Reece Leek after a Tom Weale through ball then a cross by home captain Smyth was only just missed by Shaw sliding in at the far post. Szondi hit the side netting as the home side tried to make a game of it but the game was over as a contest when on 45 minutes a Tom Weale free kick was pushed away by the home keeper but Jordan Nadat kept the ball alive and his cross was headed into an empty net by Mykel Beckley.
3-0 at half time Coleshill sat back and Rocester played better in the second half but couldn't find a way past the Coleshill defence. The heavy pitch took it's toll with the game becoming scrappy and niggly and Manager Simon Lyons must be pleased that his squad ended the game injury free. Jordan Nadat completed his hat-trick, his first for Coleshill, in the 81st minute when sent clear by Jesse Race and he confidently slotted past the keeper. Local lad Matt Hill made his Town debut and was also joined on the pitch late on by fellow Under 21 Kane Williams.
Coleshill play Tividale next at Pack Meadow on Tuesday night.
