REPORT
Following two massive games in the Semi Final of the FA Vase in front of record crowds, Coleshill were back in league action on a cold and wet night at Brocton in front of less than 100 spectators. Could the Colemen motivate themselves especially when their star striker Jordan Nadat has moved on to Hednesford, a team two leagues above.

We shouldn't have worried as Coleshill scored with 43 seconds on the clock when a Simeon Cobourne cross found Gio Dainty at the far post who volleyed into the roof of the net. In a twenty minute scintillating performance Town could have been six, seven, eight goals ahead. Josh Quaynor, Simeon Cobourne, Tom Weale, Andre Gonzales and Dean Rathbone all had great chances but a combination of poor finishing and an inspired performance from home keeper Ashley Lunn kept the score down. Brocton came more into the game as the half wore on and could have equalised but for Mr Reliable, keeper Paul Hathaway, but that would have been a complete injustice. Just before the break Mykel Beckley scored a second as a defender's clearance fell into his path and he calmly bent the ball round the keeper into the far corner giving Coleshill some breathing space.

A much more even second half followed although Coleshill had the better chances. On 56 minutes Craig Milligan cleverly plucked from the air a ball by Andre Gonzales and shot in the same motion to record number three, then with twenty minutes remaining Mykel Beckley controlled the ball in the box but stepped aside as the onrushing Craig Milligan picked his spot for the fourth. A comfortable 4-0 win and a potential banana skin avoided.

Coleshill Town are now nine points behind leaders Alvechurch with just the one game in hand now but have clear daylight from the chasing pack. The Colemen are at home this Saturday, against Walsall Wood 3.00pm Kick Off, and they need all the new supporters to come along and show their appreciation of all the hard work that the team have put in this season.

League contenders too much for Brocton
By Brian Chandler

Brocton fought hard and produced some good moments but Coleshill ran out worthy winners by 4 - 0.

Coleshill soon overcame their recent FA Vase disappointment with a whirlwind start that threatened to overwhelm Brocton. The visitors could have been forgiven for needing to be picked up, but a goal for Giovanni Dainty in the opening minutes came following concerted pressure from the kick off was all the encouragement that was needed.
Brocton were hanging on and it took a good twenty minutes for them to begin to build themselves as the side had to repel wave after wave of attacks.
It was Dominic Dell who came close to bringing the home side back into contention as he stretched for a pass which, if controlled, would leave him with just keeper Paul Hathaway to beat. The stretch turned out to be too much and the ball skidded past, but that also proved the end of the match for Dell as he limped off to be replaced by Jack Edwards.
Edwards was put in with a chance soon after his introduction with a fine cross from Matt Hardiman, but Edwards slipped and once again the chance was lost. Coleshill sprung a break and Dainty was almost put in by Andre Gonzales, raiding from right back, but the pass was too strong and ran safe.
Brocton had worked their way back into the game and put together as many attacking moves as their visitors and could have dome with reaching the break with no further loss.
But it was not to be. A good right flank move by Colehill looked to have been thwarted by a fine tackle by Tom Vaughan, but the ball ran to Mykel Beckley and he needed no second invitation to crack it past Ashley Lunn.
At the start of the second period Lunn made a telling pass out to the left flank from where Hardiman found Gary Fife, now moved into his old position as striker from his sweeping role. Fife got in a shot which was deflected wide off the shoulder of a Coleshill defender.
Dave Berks then put in a pass for Nick Wellecomme to run on to and Wellecomme did well to hold off a defender, but the lively Joshua Quaynor did enough to see the ball out for a corner.
The home side were finally seen off by a piece of excellent control as a long ball into Brocton’s box was plucked from the air, controlled and the shot fired off before any home defender could get near. Craig Milligan had made the game safe.
Brocton continued the fight, the highlights being an overlap by Edwards, found by Fife and a tempting cross which no one could convert and another cross from the other flank by Hardiman which Fife met and lifted over the bar.
Fife had one more chance which Hathaway was well placed to save before Coleshill wrapped up an assured performance with a twice taken shot, first saved by Lunn and then the rebound converted. The four nil scoreline did not reflect the good moments for Brocton, but was never the less deserved for that of an excellent visiting team still in with a chance of winning the league.
