SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Liam Fires Coleshill To Further Stage In Classic

Coleshill Town booked their place in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round after edging out Bromsgrove Sporting in a seven goal thriller. More than 700 fans saw the lead change several times at the Victoria Ground before supersub Liam Molesworth fired the visitors into the next round with a 4-3 victory. Sporting took a 14th minute lead when Liam Spink netted but Coleshill hit back through Matt Gardner eight minutes later before Ryan Edmunds added a second for Town with a stunning 25 yard shot. Sporting equalised when Jordan Jones cut inside before lashing the ball in at the near post. Max Loveridge restored Bromgrove's lead at the start of the second half with a well worked goal but the scores were level again on 57 minutes when Edmunds was fouled inside the box and Dean Rathbone sent home keeper Reece Francis the wrong way. Molesworth's winner came on 66 minutes, the Coleshill substitute weaving his way into the area before curling his shot into the bottom corner.

MATCH REPORT
What a strange game! The lead and the momentum swung from Sporting to Town and back again throughout the match and although the quality of the goals was stunning, the quality of the football was disappointing with neither side playing particularly well.

Coleshill started really nervously and Ryan Edmunds in particular looked out of sorts and frustrated, I would love to know what that was all about! Luckily for Coleshill Edmunds overcame his hesitancy and was involved in all four of Coleshill's goals in a Man Of The Match performance. Sporting could have took an early lead when Hewitt cut inside and hit a vicious shot that cannoned off Joe Cole. But Town slowly started to find their feet and a through ball by Danny Tymon found Dean Rathbone who tried to place the ball in the far corner but the ball not only missed the post but also the outstretched leg of the diving Matt Gardner. Reece Leek jinked his way down the left wing only to see his cross headed over the bar by Gardner. From a Sporting corner, Bunn's shot was blocked by Jorna Moulton and Coleshill broke quickly, Rathbone setting up Leek who hit the post with a left foot strike. The Colemen could have been two up but on 14 minutes they were one down against the run of play. A fabulous cross field ball from Hewitt found Bunn wide right and he rolled the ball into the path of Spink who side footed into the net despite Town keeper Paul Hathaway getting a hand to the effort. On 22 minutes Ryan Edmunds took a free kick from 25 yards out and his superb delivery found Matt Gardner at the far post. His strike was parried by home keeper Francis but the ball trickled over the line 1-1. Luke Edwards, making his first appearance in his second spell at Coleshill, cleared a through ball from Bunn but it hit Wills allowing him a free run at goal but his attempted lob went just over the bar. On 37 minutes an early contender for Goal Of The Season. Reece Leek rolled the ball into the path of Anton Astley, his cross was headed out by Courtney into the path of Ryan Edmunds who was about 20 yards from goal. Edmunds struck the ball with such venom that had their not been a net the ball would have found it's way back to Pack Meadow. 2-1 to the Colemen. The lead lasted just three minutes as the home side hit back. Sporting had a sustained attack but Coleshill's defence stood firm and looked in control until full back Jones cut inside and shot left footed into the net. Whether the ball took a deflection it is difficult to say but keeper Hathaway will be disappointed he was beaten on this occasion. Another great delivery by Edmunds ever so nearly found Luke Edwards at the far post and Matt Gardner shot wide from an Edmunds cross as a hectic 45 minutes ended all square at 2-2.

Bromsgrove started the second half the dominant side. Spink toe poked an effort wide before Max Loveridge pinched the ball in midfield, past to Spink and ran on for the return which carved the Town defence wide open. Loveridge finished well by rolling the ball under Hathaway and into the net on 48 minutes. Sporting were now rampant and another goal would have sunk the visitors. A Morris through ball sent Malley clear but the all left footed player sent a right footed effort wide. Coleshill had to dig deep and on 57 minutes they forced their way back into the game. Dean Rathbone sent a long ball into the box to the feet of Ryan Edmunds with his back to goal. His clever turn was too much for Jones who upended Edmunds, penalty. Rathbone, the calmest man in the ground, had no trouble finding the net, 3-3. Liam Molesworth and Gio Dainty replaced Matt Gardner and Joe Halsall who had both given their all. Joe Cole did great work in stopping danger down by the bye-line but Anton Astley's clearance only found Jones who crossed for Hewitt whose goal bound effort was blocked by the hard working Coleshill defence. On 66 minutes Town got their noses in front again as a Reece Leek cross found Ryan Edmunds in the box. His clever pass found Liam Molesworth and his quick feet found room for a shot at goal that bent round the keeper and into the net. Still over twenty minutes for Coleshill to hang on. Bunn's free kick flashed across the face of goal missing everyone including Courtney at the far post Substitute and ex Town favourite Chris Lloyd hit a free kick hard and low but Paul Hathaway made a great save on the line. Ryan Edmunds sent a free kick into the home box and there was a big, big shout for hand ball against Josh Quaynor. Lloyd shot left footed not too far over the bar and in the dying seconds Danny Tymon set Reece Leek free but his goal bound shot was tipped away with the finest of touches by keeper Francis.

Coleshill held on for a famous win against all the odds and are now in the draw for the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup which takes place Monday. They have also won all four opening games of the season which already puts new manager Cameron Stuart in the Coleshill Town record books.
