MATCH REPORT
Last season Coleshill travelled to the Wulfrunians on the 1st April still with a real chance of the championship but a drab 0-0 draw, followed by two disappointing defeats, Quorn and Sphinx, put paid to that! In this game Coleshill did enough to win the game, a fifth league win in a row, but the entertainment on show was as bad as last year.

The home team made the better start but apart from catching a shot/cross young Town keeper Dominic Cotter had little to do. Coleshill slowly started to come into the game and Ryan Edmunds shot powerfully just wide of the post before the Colemen took the lead on 21 minutes. Reece Leek made a terrific run right into the heart of the home defence and went down in the box. The assistant took up a position for a penalty but the referee awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Ryan Edmunds shot through the wall but home keeper Bateman parried the powerful effort and in a scramble Matt Gardner forced the ball home. Five minutes later Coleshill made it two. Centre back Joe Cole stepped over the ball to allow it to run to his keeper but the ball lacked pace and Dominic Cotter had to rush outside his box to kick clear. Matt Gardner headed the clearance on leaving Ryan Edmunds one on one. He confidently rounded the keeper and rolled into the net. Cotter saved comfortably from Williams and Gregg but in truth there was little action worthy of note.

A hectic schedule from the start of the season, two up at the break and a big FA Cup game coming up next, Coleshill seemed to decide to let the home team have the ball and see if they could break down two solid lines of defence. Consequently the home side had the vast majority of possession but the only real chance fell to centre back Matt Hunt after a well worked move but his strike went well over the bar.

There is no doubt Coleshill have got something going, seven consecutive wins in all competitions is record breaking stuff, but, as a team, they aren't playing that well and there is definitely more to come from this side! Lets hope we see it in the FA Cup this coming week end.
