MATCH REPORT
By Craig Hamilton
Straight from the kick off Coleshill lose possession and Quorn attack but cannot capitalise as a shot goes wide. A scrappy start by Coleshill saw Quorn on top and they won a free kick on the right side of the area but the cross was headed over. Coleshill started to get into the game and they attacked down the left wing and the ball was pulled back to the edge of the box but Danny Tymon's shot was saved at the second attempt by Hoult in the Quorn goal.
However Quorn were having the better of the play and on 14 minutes took the lead as a clever back heel pass fell to the on rushing forward to side foot past Paul Hathaway 0-1. Then Coleshill had a chance to score as a great run down the left by Jorna Moulton saw him play the ball to Matt Gardner but he shot wide. But Quorn gained the advantage as a long ball over the defence saw Paul Hathaway run out of his area but was beaten to the ball by Hicke but his shot hit the outside of the post from an acute angle.
With so many changes to the team Coleshill were finding it hard work and they gave the ball away too easily but then they clicked into gear as Reece Leek saw a shot blocked and the follow up by Drew Aiton was blocked and cleared. Then Danny Tymon hit the outside of the post from 20 yards. Coleshill started to get more of the ball but a cross was headed wide by Matt Gardner and the first half ended with them a goal down not having played to their ability.
The second half started and its clear to see Coleshill had upped their game as good build up play by Jorna Moulton saw the ball played to Danny Tymon but again he shot wide. Coleshill started to get on top but again the final pass let them down and Quorn were still in the game but fail to make any headway.
A long ball clearance by Paul Hathaway then found Matt Gardner and he held the ball up, beat his marker and played the ball to Dean Rathbone but his shot went just past the post. Coleshill then made a double substitution with Gio Dainty replacing the injured Jorna Moulton and Ryan Edmunds replaced Liam Molesworth.
Quorn were not out of the game and won a free kick on the right but the shot was deflected wide. Then Joe Cole won the ball on the edge of the Coleshill penalty area and ran 20 yards forward before playing a good pass to Reece Leek who runs on and shoots but Hoult parried the ball only to see Matt Gardner score from the rebound 1-1 and game on.
Coleshill were now on top and attack again as Reece Leek headed on to Dean Rathbone but he dragged his shot wide. Then Ryan Edmunds fired in a shot that the keeper pushed wide. Coleshill were now the better side and their pressure payed off when a great run and cross down the right by Reece Leek was met in the six yard box by Matt Gardner to slide the ball home 2-1. Then Reece Leek had a chance as he beat the keeper to the ball but headed just wide.
James Medford then made his first team debut as he replaced Matt Gardner for the last couple of minutes.
Coleshill were now working hard to maintain the lead and Ryan Edmunds chased 60 yards to win the ball in midfield and played the ball forward for Reece Leek to run onto but saw his one on one with the keeper saved by Hoult.
This was the last action of the game and Coleshill won 2-1 to stay top of the league but they will have to do better over 90 minutes and not just rely on a good second half performance.
A VIEW FROM THE OTHER SIDE
A Match Report taken from the Quorn web site

Quorn travelled to visit the current league leaders without Ryan Thacker, Nathan Dale and Jake Dodds. James Hicks returned to partner Dominic Brennan up front with Callum Thompson replacing Dale in midfield. Russell Hoult returned between the sticks and Liam Turner made a surprise return to the squad following his retirement at the end last season.
Quorn settled well and completely dominated the first period, Thompson opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour but missed chances kept the score line to a slender margin at the break.
The 2nd half saw a complete turnaround and the Home side gained the upper hand early on and Quorn were having to defend desperately to preserve their lead. Fifteen minutes from the end, the visitors made the breakthrough when Matt Gardener scored from close range after Hoult had parried the original effort. Soon after, they added a second to take the points.
