Jordan Nadat's leveller pocketed a useful point for leaders Coleshill Town in a 1-1 draw at Lye.
MATCH REPORT
It's always a battle at Lye. Any point is a good point. Last season Coleshill recorded their first result at Stourbridge Road at the third attempt with Jordan Nadat getting the only goal of the game in the 90th minute and he was the saviour again as he levelled the scores in the second half.
It wasn't pretty and although it was end to end blood and thunder, there was little goalmouth action. A Rob Evans back heel from a Ryan Edmunds corner flew just past the post, Ntamark volleyed beyond the far post and Town keeper Paul Hathaway saved a 22 yard shot from Gennard. Lye were slightly on top and took a deserved lead on the half hour with a goal that summed up a disjointed game. A cross from Flowers into the Coleshill box took at least three deflections but finally fell kindly to Shilvock who had the easy task to pass into an empty net. Joe Halsall headed over the bar from a Dean Rathbone free kick, a great chance to level the score, and Reece Leek skimmed the bar with a cross/shot. Matt Gardner headed an Anton Astley cross straight at the keeper as Coleshill ended the half better than they had started it.
Coleshill changed to a back three in the second half with Jordan Nadat replacing Anton Astley. Lye almost increased their lead when Ntamark headed against the bar from a Shilvock free kick. Although Coleshill were much more in the game now, both keepers had very quite afternoons with little action in the final third. Mills headed a Shilvock corner straight at Paul Hathaway then the Town stopper saved with his feet a shot from Till. On 66 minutes Drew Aiton and Reece Leek combined down the right to force a corner. The cross was half cleared but Reece Leek recycled the ball to Jordan Nadat with his back to goal. A clever turn and a left foot shot found the corner of the net, 1-1 game on. Both teams raised their game but chances were at a premium. Home keeper Price saved with his feet a Jordan Nadat right foot shot and a great delivery from Shilvock was headed away from danger by Luke Edwards. A Reece Leek cross was headed not too far from goal by Joe Halsall then Dean Rathbone and Jordan Nadat combined to set Reece Leek free but Price was out quickly at his feet. A great run by Dean Rathbone took him into the heart of the home defence and his through ball split them open but Reece Leek decided to pass rather than shoot and a great chance for the winner went begging. Jordan Nadat tried his luck from fully 30 yards and wasn't too far away but the game ended with both sides happy with a point although they can both play better than this.
Coleshill are still top and with Worcester surprisingly losing at Shawbury, it's Bromsgrove who are now the closest rivals. Town have three home games to come now, all on Saturdays and they will be hoping to maintain their 100% home record.
