SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Lloyd Cracker Banks The Points For Swifts
Stourport Swifts chalked up the result of the day, twice coming from two goals down to beat league leaders Coleshill Town 5-4. The home side looked to be cruising to victory as Jordan Nadat steered them into a 2-0 interval lead with goals on 32 and 36 minutes. Swifts clawed their way back in the second half, thanks to a Paul Hurrell double, scoring from close range each time as the hosts failed to deal with corners. The game swung back Coleshill's way when a Matt Gardner header and a Liam Molesworth effort restored the two goal cushion but Swifts had a sting in the tail. Aaron Lloyd reduced the arrears from the spot following a foul on Dan Sweeney before Nick MacPherson levelled the scores with nine minutes to go. It was Lloyd who netted the 86th minute winner with the goal of the game, a stunning 25 yard strike that flew into the top corner.
Coleshill lost their 100% Home record in spectacular fashion but maintained top spot, just! Town certainly know how to score goals but some kamikaze defending resulted in shipping five goals, the last time that happened was April 2014 against AFC Wulfrunians.
Coleshill were without their engine room, Danny Tymon and Joe Halsall, and it showed. Also missing was Jorna Moulton and Luke Edwards but there is still enough in the squad to see off mid-table Stourport?
Every team that visits Pack Meadow love to play on the magnificent surface and Swifts started well with Perry pulling the strings but when Coleshill attacked they were quick to take down a man if necessary and Jordan Nadat got his fair share. An entertaining game came to life on the half hour when Matt Gardner headed a great cross from Ryan Edmunds onto the bar and Jordan Nadat was first to react to slam the loose ball into the net. And just four minutes later it was two as a defence splitting pass from Dean Rathbone found Jordan Nadat left side of the box and his rocket shot burst the net. Rob Evans shot over the bar and Jordan Nadat and Ryan Edmunds pinched the ball near the corner flag, Edmunds got to the bye line and picked out Nadat but his goalbound shot was blocked as Coleshill finished the half well in control.
Jordan Nadat had an early chance to increase the lead but his shot went straight at the keeper and Stourport took advantage to haul themselves back into the game. On 51 minutes a corner found Lloyd at the back post and his header back into the danger area was forced over the line by Hurrell. A Ryan Edmunds free kick then hit the bar and Matt Gardner headed over and Jordan Nadat had a shot saved. Town keeper Paul Hathaway had to tip a shot from Newman over the bar before Swifts equalised on 58 minutes. Almost a repeat of the first goal saw Hurrell again force the ball over the line from a goalmouth scramble, 2-2. Hathaway saved from Sweeney before Coleshill restored their lead on 68 minutes. A free kick from Ryan Edmunds was punched up in the air by visiting keeper Richards and Matt Gardner rose highest to head home at the far post. Liam Molesworth cut inside from the left wing and although his shot took a wicked deflection, Richards made a reflex save to palm out for a corner and Drew Aiton's resulting volley flew just wide. On 75 minutes Liam Moleworth cut inside from the left again but this time his bending shot went round defender and keeper and into the far corner of the net, what a cracker! 4-2, Coleshill must be able to close out the game now! Three minutes later Sweeney went down in the box and penalty was awarded, Lloyd converted. Another three minutes past and Sweeney's storming run took him into the box and when he was stopped by a Joe Cole tackle the ball fell kindly to MacPherson who quickly toe poked home 4-4. Coleshill were all at sea now and the final whistle couldn't come soon enough. With just four minutes remaining Lloyd took a punt from 25 yards and his shot went over Hathaway and dipped just in time to go under the bar and into the net. There was still time for Coleshill to hit the woodwork again when Anton Astley's cross came to Liam Molesworth whose cracking shot hit the post and Jordan Nadat's follow up shot went wide. Unbelievable but well deserved from a Swifts side that always believed they could win this game.
Bromsgrove Sporting had a fine away win at Heanor and are breathing down Town's neck, Worcester City drew with South Normanton and next weeks opponents Sporting Khalsa beat Loughborough 4-0. The Colemen need to get over this disappointment quickly and get back on a winning run.
A VIEW FROM THE OTHER SIDE

Coleshill Town 4 Stourport Swifts 5 MPL Sat 14th October Att: 116
Stourport Swifts twice came back from two goals behind and snatched a late winner to leave league leaders Coleshill in shock.
Coleshill had won every home game so far this season and Swifts found themselves two behind at the break after Jordan Nadat first fired in from close range after Dean Rathbone’s header came back off the bar, and then blasted an unstoppable shot past Richards for his second.
Stourport hit back after the break when Paul Hurrell twice was on hand to score from close range after corners from Ashley Parsons-Smith.
With the game level after an hour and both teams going close again, Coleshill forged ahead again when first leading scorer Matt Gardner headed home after Richards misjudged a free kick from the left, and then sub Liam Molesworth cut inside to fire a curling shot into the top corner.
Dan Sweeney stepped up to make an impact after 78 minutes when his surging run into the box saw him brought down by Joe Cole and Aaron Lloyd coolly rammed home the spot kick to pull a goal back. Three minutes later Sweeney did it again, when his run allowed Nick MacPherson to drive low past Hathaway in the Coleshill goal and level for the Swifts for the second time.
With 4 minutes left, Aaron Lloyd took a ball on his chest 25 yards out and fired a screamer volley past Hathaway to put his side front for the first time in the match. In the closing minutes Coleshill almost snatched an equaliser, but Nadat’s fierce drive came back off the post.
