SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill Town kept pace with leaders Bromsgrove, but endured a nervy finish in a 2-1 win over 10 man Haughmond. Kevin Renshaw was dismissed before Joe Halsall and Reece Leek struck in the final ten minutes of the first half. Haughmond got one back with 10 minutes to go. Coleshill have a seven point cushion in the second promotion place over Sporting Khalsa who did not play.

MATCH REPORT
Coleshill returned to action after a couple of postponements due to the weather against Haughmond, a new side to the league and a team that Coleshill had already beaten twice this season, one league one cup, but both games were tough and the visitors were a better team than the league table suggests.

There was a welcome return to Pack Meadow for Andre Gonzales who was of the main men in last years FA Vase Semi Final and league runners up team. Danny Tymon, Liam Molesworth and James Hicks were missing but otherwise Manager Cameron Stuart had a full squad to choose from.

Coleshill should have been ahead in the opening minutes as Ryan Edmunds beat the off-side trap and was clean through. Keeper Jones did well to block Edmunds initial shot but from the rebound he set up Matt Gardner who completely missed the ball with the goal at his mercy. Haughmond hit back with a shot from Courtney, Exodus Geohaghon cleared a very dangerous cross from Ryan and Town keeper Paul Hathaway saved from Hole. Ryan Edmunds shot over the bar from 22 yards, a Reece Leek on target left foot shot was deflected for a corner and from that corner a Gio Dainty header was heading for the net but Jones finger tipped the effort round the post. Dainty then set up Exodus Geohaghon but his volley went over the bar from a great position and a Reece Leek run and shot went just past the far post. On the half hour mark Renshaw made a nasty tackle on Joe Smith and he saw a straight Red. Coleshill had been knocking on the door but the spare man made the difference and they took the lead on 35 minutes. Joe Halsall rose highest to a Ryan Edmunds corner and although Jones got a hand to it, the powerful effort found the net. Jones then saved a Matt Gardner header from a Exodus Geohaghon long throw and Joe Cole made a great tackle to deny Ryan a sight of goal after a fine run. Just before the break Town increased their lead when a fine run by Ryan Edmunds was cleared only as far as Reece Leek who hit a cracking hard, low shot from 22 yards that left keeper Jones stranded.

The game never really got going in the first half and with the Colemen 2-0 up and against ten men, there was little action to talk about in the second half. Ryan Edmunds had the ball in the net and although he wasn't off-side, somebody was. Rob Evans' volley wasn't too far away, Reece Leek shot wide and Matt Gardner just couldn't stretch far enough to get to Andre Gonzales cross. Gonzales then sent a left foot shot just over the bar from 27 yards. A third goal would have killed the game altogether but on 80 minutes the visitors made it interesting. A long throw from Rodgers was hooked into the net by Hyne, game on. Hewitt shot over the bar and in injury time Paul Hathaway had to punch clear another long throw from Rodgers but Coleshill held on for another three points.

Twelve league games to go and a League Cup Quarter Final, so plenty to play for as the season approaches it's climax.
