Coleshill Crash In Poor Second Half

Relegation is staring Coleshill Town in the face after Saturday's poor performance at Chipping Norton. The Pack Meadow club are firmly anchored at the bottom of the Midland Combination's First Division table with only nine points from 22 games. And Saturday's display hardly helped their bid to escape the "big drop". The Coleshill team has now played more games than the other three bottom clubs and manager Mel Strong says there can be no more room for mistakes. "The situation now is serious." said the Coleshill team boss. "I will be looking seriously at the team and there could be some changes. We must start picking up points." he added. Coleshill played well at fourth in the table Chipping Norton, especially in the first half when they contained a home side which had the slope and wind advantage. Town went in at half time with a clean score sheet but three second half defensive errors cost them dearly. The visitors caused Chipping Norton a few anxious moments before half time with quick break away moves and Barrie canning and Colin Brittle both went close. But Coleshill's lack of discipline in defence was the telling factor and the home side took advantage of a half chance to take the lead in the 47th minute. Coleshill's troubles continued and mid way through the second half they conceded a penalty goal. Another penalty near the end made the game safe for Norton and Coleshill were left with a tough relegation battle ahead of them. Coleshill Town entertain Racing Club Warwick at Pack Meadow this Saturday. Kick Off 2.45pm.
