SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill Slide Again

Coleshill, looking for a result to keep away from the relegation zone, had Borough under pressure. Lamb beat Seeley but Ward moved smartly to halt the danger, diving to smother the ball at the feet of Browning. Knight was at the end of a threatening move by Borough, but the neat ball through to Cappaldi was well cut out by Howes. In the 12th minute Jones found himself clear from a smart Seeley through ball but failed to capitalise and allowed himself to be dispossessed when in a good scoring position. Borough forced three corners in as many minutes. Bell surged through from midfield to send in a good shot that just skimmed the upright. Then Knight saw his first time shot just clear the bar with Tymon just out of position. Borough's pressure finally paid off and they took the lead in the 40th minute. After a handling offence in the box Speake made no mistake from the penalty spot. Borough increased their lead two minutes later from a Capaldi corner Bell rose high to send a bullet-like header into the back of the net.
Half Time: Solihull Borough 2 Coleshill Town 0
Coleshill attacked strongly in the second half and with a strong wind in their favour had Borough in trouble. Ward did well to hold a good effort from Brookes and a minute later dropped on the ball to stop an effort from Browning. A good run by Lamb was finally brought to a full stop by a timely tackle from Jordan.

AND A WEEK LATER THE SPORTS ARGUS ALSO WROTE
Solihull Borough kept up their scoring spree, this time it was lowly Coleshill who suffered with a 5-1 beating, goals coming from Peter Jones 2, Ted Sealey, Chris Bell and reliable Mickey Speake who hit one from the spot. Browning got a consolation goal for Coleshill.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
With driving rain behind them Boro camped in the Coleshill half for almost the whole of the first session but had to wait until the 40th minute to score from a penalty by Mick Speake. Two minutes later a Capaldi corner was met by Chris Bell and a brilliant header beat Sammons. The second half started with Coleshill taking full advantage of the conditions but Boro's defensive work was tight and controlled and they eventually set up one or two attacks. Another Capaldi corner in the 70th minute found Pete Jones and his header tore under the bar to increase the home side's lead. With five minutes left they went further ahead as a left wing cross was knocked back by Bell and Steve Sealey made it four. Coleshill gained a consolation goal from the penalty spot through Browning but Boro went nap with seconds left when they carved through the Coleshill defence and Ted Sealey finished off a five man move.

SOLIHULL NEWS WROTE
Easy For Five Goal Borough

Solihull Borough hit the goal trail with a sparkling home display against struggling Coleshill Town. There can be little doubt that Solihull thoroughly deserved this win against a Coleshill side battling to survive in the Midland Combination's First Division. And for Borough it was a continuation of their scoring form and a follow up to last week's six goal victory. It took Borough 40 minutes to break the deadlock when the reliable Micky Speake scored from the penalty spot. Three minutes later Chris Bell met a John Capaldi corner and made no mistake with a powerful header into the roof of the net. Coleshill made a spirited effort after the interval but failed to take full advantage of a strong wind in their favour. Borough goalkeeper Chris Ward did have to make several fine saves but Coleshill's poor finishing cost them dearly as Borough stormed back to add a third goal in the 70th minute. Another Capaldi corner kick was neatly put away by Pete Jones and five minutes later Borough made it 4-0. A left wing cross from Brian Jordan was knocked back across goal by Chris Bell for the alert Stephen Seeley to volley home from close range. Coleshill pulled a goal back 10 minutes from the end when Browning scored from the penalty spot after a handling offence, but there was no stopping Borough and they made it 5-1 in the dying minutes. Ted Seeley finished off a five man move with a fierce shot that left keeper Sammons clutching thin air.

CHELMSLEY NEWS WROTE
Trapdoor Widens

The trap door to the Midland Combination Division two opened a little wider for Coleshill who now look almost certain for the big drop at the end of the season after this resounding defeat by Borough. In atrocious conditions, Solihull, with the driving rain behind them, laid siege in Coleshill's half before the interval. However, they had to wait until the 40th minute for their reward when Micky Speake converted a penalty. Two minutes later Solihull extended their lead when Capaldi's corner was met by Chris Bell who sent a brilliant header flashing past Sammons. It was Coleshill's turn to use the conditions to their advantage in the second half but Borough's defence held firm and tight, controlled play and they began to set up some dangerous breaks. From another Capaldi corner the home side went three up when Pete Jones headed home and they made it four with five minutes left when Bell knocked back a left wing cross for Steve Sealey. Coleshill grabbed a consolation goal through a Browning penalty but Solihull went nap when Ted Sealey finished off a brilliant five man move that carved open Coleshill's hard worked defence.
