SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Racing Club, back home after seven successive away matches, powered into a convincing half time lead at Hampton Road. The man who did the damage against bottom club Coleshill was Steve Edgington who took his tally to ten in just eight games with another two goal haul. The visitors had no answer to Racing's fire power and with a little more luck Edgington could easily have grabbed a hat-trick. He shot wide twice with only the keeper to beat and then headed into the side-netting from a Chris Chinn cross. It came as no surprise that Racing finally broke the deadlock after 25 minutes when keeper Sammons could only push a Malcolm Boulton shot to the path of Edgington who made no mistake. Boulton almost grabbed a second after neat move from Cliff Morby but this time keeper Sammons pulled off a spectacular diving save. Racing increased their lead after 32 minutes when Morby crossed on the left and Alan Bryan headed down for Edgington to snap home from close range. Bryan then had a shot cleared off the line by defender Allen and Racing finished the half in devastating style.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Steve Leads Racing On Seven Goal Romp
After seven successive away matches, Racing celebrated their Hampton Road homecoming in spectacular style. They went seven up against bottom of the table Coleshill with Striker Steve Edgington leading the way. He found the net five times to make it 13 goals in eight games since joining the club. Unhappy Coleshill had no answer to Racing’s firepower with big striker Alan Bryan spearheading the one-way assault. Edgington fires Racing into a two goal lead at half time after good work by Malcolm Boulton and Bryan. He added another two shortly after the interval before Steve Cooper blasted in a fifth. Substitute Clive Coleman made it six of the best, with that man Edgington having the final say when he hammered home number seven.

Coleshill Slump To Heaviest Defeat
it now looks certain that Coleshill Town are doomed to play in the Midland Combination Second Division next season. Bottom of the table Coleshill crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season, last Saturday, making it an unhappy Easter for Manager Mel Strong and the Pack Meadow camp. Coleshill came up against a confident Racing Club Warwick side, who have found an ace scorer in Steve Edgington. In eight games, he has notched 13 goals. His tally of five against Coleshill was a personal triumph, but it was the all-round team work of the homesters that had struggling Coleshill in all sorts of trouble. It was racing all the way and in the opening minutes Edgington twice shot wide, with only keeper Sammons to beat and the Racing striker then headed into the side netting from a Chris Chinn cross. Heavy pressure was rewarded in the 25th minute when Sammons could only parry a shot from Boulton into the path of Edgington who made no mistake from close range. Sammons made a spectacular diving save to prevent Boulton from increasing the lead but in the 32nd minute the keeper had no chance as Edgington netted his second goal, after Bryan had headed down a cross from Morby. Allen saved Coleshill from going further behind near the interval clearing a shot from Bryan off the line. Coleshill had no answer to Racing's attacking power and in the opening stages of the second half Edgington netted two more goals. Cooper blasted in goal number five and substitute Coleman made it 6-0 before Edgington completed his spree to send Coleshill reeling.
