SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Burrows put Coleshill into an early lead but after Highgate had a seemingly justifiable penalty appeal turned down, they equalised two minutes before the interval through top scorer Brookes. Coleshill took a 9th minute lead when Rencher’s square pass was turned into the net by Burrows who shot home from Rencher.s square pass. Highgate hit back and former Blues striker Summerhill went close on two occasions. Brookes levelled for Highgate two minutes before the interval when he shrugged off Pollack, rounded keeper Hollins and shot into an empty net. Coleshill, who had an even share of the play, were hit by two goals in the space of a minute in the secone hAlf. A cross from Summerhill was headed in by Brookes after 53 minutes and then a perfect through ball from Evans found Brookes unmarked to turn and slot the ball past Hollins. Highgate's Evans was booked following an incident with Coleshill's Jones after 74 minutes, and then Evans hit the crossbar with a close range effort three minutes later. Brookes struck again after 87 minutes when sub Gardner failed to control the ball in front of goal, and the Highgate striker turned and shot past Hollins.

CHELMSLEY NEWS WROTE
Coleshill’s Biggest Defeat “Time To Make Changes” - Holder
Coleshill slumped to their biggest of the season at Tythe Barn Lane and while the score line flattered Highgate there was no excuses from Coleshill boss Colin Holder who said, “Certain players will have to buck up and the time has come to make changes.” True to his word Holder will introduce his two latest signings in the home game with Evesham United this Saturday. They are Keith Shrimpton from Boldmere St Michaels and Micky Calvert from Knowle. Two players on the move from Pack Meadow are Chris Davies to Chelmsley Town and Nigel Smith to Boldmere. Coleshill found themselves hit by a four - goal blast from Highgate’s speedy striker Johnny Brookes who tormented the visitors defence from start to finish. But it was Coleshill who took the lead with a fine move started by Pollack, which led to Rencher squaring inside for Nigel Burrows to slam in a brilliant 30 yard shot. This ninth minute goal only served to bring the best out of Highgate and former Blues player Summerhill twice went close to levelling matters. Bradley Russell has a goal disallowed as Coleshill still looked the more confident side, but two minutes before the interval Brookes got the better of Pollack and then calmly rounded keeper Hollins to level matters. Two goals in the space of a minute put Highgate in the driving seat. A cross from Summerhill was headed home by Brookes in the 52nd minute and straight from the resultant kick off a through ball from Evans enabled Brookes to race clear and easily beat Hollins. Dyer was unlucky not to reduce the deficit with an effort that skimmed the crossbar, but Highgate’s Evans, after being booked for a foul on Jones, countered with a shot that rebounded from the woodwork. Three minutes from the end Brookes netted his fourth goal, taking advantage of a mistake by Coleshill’s substitute John Gardner.

Four Goal Brookes Returns In Style
Highgate United's leading scorer Johnny Brookes returned to the team in style when he secured four spectacular goals to wipe out third placed Coleshill on Saturday. Coleshill went into the lead after nine minutes with a superb goal by Burrows. Former Highgate player Roy Rencher, released by manager Ronnie Blackham less than a fortnight ago, slid the ball across the edge of the penalty box to Burrows whose shot flew just inside the post out of Dave Lawrence's reach. Phil Summerhill, whose experience has proved invaluable over the past few games, went close to equalising with long range attempts on two occasions and then Highgate had a penalty appeal turned down. Johnny Brookes was pushed off the ball by Pollack as he rose to meet a cross from Tony Donnelly in front of goal in what was surely the most blatant reason to award a penalty Highgate will experience all season. But the referee turned down the subsequent appeals much to the anger and frustration of the home side. Brookes levelled the scores two minutes before the interval when he shrugged off a foul by Pollock and rounded keeper Hollins before shooting into an empty net. Highgate hit two goals in the space of a minute to sink Coleshill in the second half. A left wing cross from Summerhill was headed in by Brookes after 53 minutes and then Dave Evans put Brookes clear with a perfect through ball from midfield. Brookes exploited a gaping hole in the Coleshill defence and raced through to shoot past Hollins. Evans was booked following an incident with Coleshill's Jones after 74 minutes and then Evans hit the crossbar from close range as Highgate continued to pile on the pressure. Brookes struck again after 87 minutes when substitute Gardner failed to control the ball in front of goal and the Highgate striker turned and shot past Hollins.
