SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Coleshill Town boss Colin Holder moved a step nearer to completing his rebuilding jigsaw last week with the signing of Knowle front runner Micky Calvert.

THE SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill attacked from the kick off and at one stage keeper Hollins in the home goal was a virtual spectator. An early exchange between Woolley and Pollack gave new signing Talbot a free run at goal but with only Brennan to beat shot wide. Immediately after the kick-off Talbot was again put through but the keeper made a fine save. Coleshill deservedly took the lead with a corner by Jones powerfully headed home by Tempest. At this stage in the game it was no surprise when Coleshill went further into the lead with a delightful chip from Burrows. Gresham surprisingly got back into the game when a shot was deflected into the goal by a defender.

CHELMSLEY NEWS WROTE
Two More Points For Coleshill

Coleshill maintained third place in the Midland Combination First Division with this deserved victory over a struggling Evesham side at Pack Meadow. Evesham, second from the bottom, found themselves defending desperately against an opening Coleshill onslaught and in the 10th minute were lucky to escape when a cracking shot from Russell flashed inches over the crossbar. Jones then saw a fierce drive blocked on the line with visiting keeper Brennan beaten and in the next attack Woolley and Pollack combined for Barry Tempest to shoot wide. The nearest Evesham went to scoring was when Hackett attempted a back pass to home keeper Hollins who had to go full length to save. Near the interval Tempest headed over from a cross by Jones. Brennan saved from Micky Calvert at the start of the second half, but Coleshill jumped in front through Tempest, who headed home a corner from Jones. Pollack and Jones set up two more chances for Calvert but the new striker, recently signed from Knowle, shot straight at Brennan on both occasions. Coleshill made it 2-0 through Burrows who turned quickly to chip the ball over Brennan from 18 yards following combined play between Cartwright and Tipton. Evesham reduced the deficit near the end when a speculative shot from Mills was deflected by Woolley into his own net. After the match Coleshill’s manager Colin Holder said, “This was a below par performance but Evesham were a poor side and I think they brought us down to their level. We will have to play far better this Saturday when we are at home to top of the table Cinderford .”

THE CHELMSLEY NEWS ALSO WROTE
Boldmere St Michaels’ experienced player Keith Shrimpton has turned down the chance to sign for Coleshill and has transferred his affections to Walsall Sportsco.
