On Form Knowle Grab The Glory
Knowle followed up last week's impressive Senior Cup win over Tamworth with another creditable performance to beat Coleshill Town and continue their strong challenge for the Midland Combination title. Coleshill kicked off with a gale force wind at their backs and played some good football in midfield but it was Knowle who opened the scoring from their first attack in the fifth minute. The move started by Knight and Owen before Thomas fired in a hard shot only to see the effort blocked by Cartwright for Cario Rossi to hammer home the rebound. Coleshill never gave up and tried to get back into the game and gained their reward with an equaliser in the 25th minute when Dyer scored from the penalty spot. Knowle were not deterred and put Coleshill under considerable pressure with quick attacking moves from defence to attack. It was from one of these attacks that Trindle made a fine run down the right, rounded Russell, Cartwright and Hackett to find Rossi on the edge of the penalty box with a perfect pass. Rossi made no mistake to give Knowle the lead again in the 38th minute with a good shot into the bottom corner of the net. Coleshill started the second half in determined fashion but could not break the well organised Knowle defence and Jones and Tipton were forced to test home keeper Wiggins with two long range shots. Knowle added the killer third goal in the 70th minute when some good approach work by Ellis and Tinkler enabled Trindle to score.
