THE SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Carlo Rossi laid on the perfect pass for Thomas, whose shot was blocked by the keeper. Rossi was in line to pick up the loose ball and shoot the home team to a fourth minute lead. Pollack tried to make amends for Coleshill with a long range shot which Wiggins handled without trouble. Rossi was clear after Ellis found the striker with a smart through pass but the visitors recovered at the expense of a corner. Thomas found the net again for Knowle but it was disallowed for offside. Dyer had a terrific shot charged down by Knight and good understanding between Evans and Trindle broke down some dangerous forward play. Coleshill's pressure was beginning to tell and they were awarded a penalty following a corner. From the spot Dyer's shot levelled the scores in the 20th minute. Knowle regained the lead after forcing a corner. Owen headed down from the flag kick for Rossi to score his second from a sharp angle. Coleshill still looked dangerous and a centre from the right wing just evaded the head of Jones.

Straight after the break Wiggins rose to pluck out of the air a high centre into the middle.
And later the Sports Argus wrote:
Knowle got back to league duty and after four minutes they were leading Coleshill Town by one goal. Bobby Dyer pulled one back for Coleshill but Rossi got his second when he put Knowle back into the lead and one from Trindle finished the scoring and allowed Knowle to move up.

SOLIHULL NEWS WROTE
On Form Knowle Grab The Glory

Knowle followed up last week's impressive Senior Cup win over Tamworth with another creditable performance to beat Coleshill Town and continue their strong challenge for the Midland Combination title. Coleshill kicked off with a gale force wind at their backs and played some good football in midfield but it was Knowle who opened the scoring from their first attack in the fifth minute. The move started by Knight and Owen before Thomas fired in a hard shot only to see the effort blocked by Cartwright for Cario Rossi to hammer home the rebound. Coleshill never gave up and tried to get back into the game and gained their reward with an equaliser in the 25th minute when Dyer scored from the penalty spot. Knowle were not deterred and put Coleshill under considerable pressure with quick attacking moves from defence to attack. It was from one of these attacks that Trindle made a fine run down the right, rounded Russell, Cartwright and Hackett to find Rossi on the edge of the penalty box with a perfect pass. Rossi made no mistake to give Knowle the lead again in the 38th minute with a good shot into the bottom corner of the net. Coleshill started the second half in determined fashion but could not break the well organised Knowle defence and Jones and Tipton were forced to test home keeper Wiggins with two long range shots. Knowle added the killer third goal in the 70th minute when some good approach work by Ellis and Tinkler enabled Trindle to score.

CHELMSLEY NEWS WROTE
Punished For Three Mistakes

Up against fellow title chasers Knowle, Coleshill can count themselves unlucky not to have brought home a Midland Combination First Division Point. Injury hit Coleshill looked far the better side for long periods, but three tragic defensive mistakes were pounced upon by Knowle, who got away to a cracking start with a fourth minute goal when Rossi, after seeing his first shot well saved by Hollins, followed up to slam in the rebound. Hollins has been left exposed by his colleagues. Coleshill swarmed onto the offensive and Bob Dyer has a terrific shot charged down by Knight. Home keeper Wiggins then saved from Pollack and Knowle’s defence was severely tested before the 20th minute, when Burrows was upended and Bob Dyer levelled matters from the penalty spot. Fine forward play by Coleshillkept Knowle at full stretch and a shot from Jones scraped the crossbar after he had run on to a pass from Tipton. It was very much against the run of play when Knowle regained the lead shortly before the interval - Owen heading down a corner for the unmarked Rossi to net his second goal. Coleshill were left reflecting on their two defensive errors that had let Knowle “off the hook”, but they made a determined effort in the second period to take complete control. Knowle can thank Wiggins for excellent saves from Cartwright, Pollack and Dyer and such was Coleshill’s domination that keeper Hollins’ only problem was how to keep warm? But in the 70th minute Tinkler created a breakaway opening for Trindle to bang in Knowl’s third goal. Yet again Coleshill’s defence had a lot to answer for. So much on top, but Coleshill were trailing 3-1 and although they still attacked in depth they failed to break down Knowle’s resistance. Coleshill manager Colin Holder said after the match, “This was a disappointing result but the lads had enough of the attacking play to have won convincingly- a verdict agreed by Knowle’s manager Gordon Cooper who said, “Coleshill should have won - they are the best side we have played this season.” Manager Holder has attempted to immediately rectify the hesitance in his defence. He has given skipper George Hackett his release from Pack Meadow and signed “sweeper” Mark Bishop from Paget Rangers. Currently in fourth place Coleshill are still poised for honours and Colin Holder is determined to maintain the challenge, despite the glut of injuries which are keeping Micky Calvert, Roy Rencher, John Gardner, Ray Woolley and John Cox our of action. Former Boldmere St Michaels, Sutton Town and G.E.C. Witton goalkeeper Keith Fielding has been appointed player/manager of Coleshill Reserves and last Saturday he helped his side to a 1-0 victory over Rockwood. This Saturday Coleshill visit Solihull Borough.
