Studley Sporting 2 v 0 Coleshill Town

Postby Alan Beckett » Tue Feb 13, 2018 7:15 pm

Manager Colin Holder enters his third season in charge at Coleshill Town. In his first season Coleshill finished in 13th place, a massive improvement on the season before when Town finished in the bottom place and were only reprieved from relegation when the league was expanded. Last season Coleshill finished in 14th place but won their first trophy in many a year (try and work out how many) when they lifted the Walsall Senior Cup. Holder had high hopes of a title challenge this season.

Pre-Season Coleshill played in the Globesport Solihull Charity Cup. Played Bromsgrove Brookfield on the Monday 1st August, at Home (got programme) in the first round. Drew 1-1, their scorer was L.Poyner. It went to penalties and we lost. They went on to beat Shirley Town in the Final 1-0. Games were played on the 1st, 3rd, 8th and 10th. Glad we didn't get to the final. Coleshill won this cup the previous season in it's first year. (I think)

COLESHILL GAZETTE WROTE
Coleshill Town FC 1983/4 Season

This will be manager Colin Holder's third season at Coleshil Town FC and he has made five new signings during the close season to strengthen his squad. Roy Ashman from Bromsgrove, Tim Clarke from Highgate, Micky Finnegan - Bromsgrove, Tony Ward - Moor Green and Tony Carson from Knowle. These are all experienced players and al hope to do well both in the League and Cup competitions this season. The team play at home to Brereton Social in the FA Vase and Boston (it was in fact Gresley) in the FA Cup, this being their first venture in the FA Cup. These matches to be played in September and October. All the players from last season re-signed for this new season and this can only prove that the team spirit at the club is being experienced by the Committee and players alike. Off the field Barrie Canning has become Secretary due to the resignation of Mr J.Gough for health reasons but every other member of the Executive Committee remain. Plans have been submitted for extensions to Dressing Rooms, Referee's Room and Clubhouse with a view to this work being commenced in the new year. During the summer weeks manager Holder and the Committee have worked hard to repaint the whole building and separate the shower units for the teams. The Club has been re-carpeted and new curtains are being purchased. Sponsorship in the way of new kits for the teams has once again been given by Metal Products (Arden) Limited and engineering firm in the Midlands. The Reserve Team has made several new signings and Manager Charlie Else is confident that they can make a big effort to lift themselves out of the 2nd Division and into the 1st this season.

SPORTS ARGUS WROTE
Holder On The Attack

Coleshill Town Manager Colin Holder unleased a furious attack on two marginal colleagues this week as he prepared to lose more players. Holder has received seven days notice from Mile Oak for Brad Russell's services, and Paget who want Steve Polack. Holder, having already seen Highgate take Kirk Jennings away and Bob Whitfield move to Knowle, is furious at the timing though. "It's ridiculous. Surely it's only reasonable management to have things sorted out by now. I've let both managers know how I feel and I think they deserve it. They've had all summer to make up their plans and to suddenly drop them on me like this is disgusting."
